Im thinking of puting a chevy 305 with a turbo 350 short cone in a rock crawler. never done it before, any sugestions on t-case, and axles. and do i need to buy an atlas? And if so what am i looking at. the engine came out of a camaro.

As far as engine and tranny and t-case, id get rid of the np 203, they all bang reverse because of slack in the chain, there all atleast 25+ years old with miles and miles on them, and there 50lbs heavier then a np205. A th350 mated with a np 205 is a better option and could be found in a early blazer or jimmy. If you want to keep it simple, just get a part time kit for the transfercase you have (np203) and you dont even have to mess with drivelines/ shifters, etc. As for engine, if it runs good, leave it otherwise the camaro motor will work fine.

I say just swap in a 205. Nearly indestructable and lighter. If you want a lower 1st go with JB Conversions 3:1 set up.

For less money you can put a 205 behind the 203 & have 4:1.
