I searched the web and found alot of the medium taper inserts, but no large taper inserts. I need to mount a Tierod on top of 3/4 ton Ford knuckles that had the t-rod on bottum.

So anyone have a lead on where to get them or who makes them? Thanks in advance.

Have Duffy make them??

Re-ream them from the top?

Or if they are then hour-glass (i.e. the Ford were already big taper) weld up the bottom 1/2 then re-ream from the top??

Or use the medium taper units you can get then ream them out after they are in??

QUOTE: Have Duffy make them??
**Working on having them made possibley. That will mean making a run of 25 or more however. Is **there a large demand? I would have though that if there was they would be easier to find.

Re-ream them from the top?
**Um then they will be hour glassed, and i will not do that at my shop. Some may but BCB will do **it right the first time, or we will not take on the job.

**Yes Mark 3/4 ton Ford uses the large taper(but you knew that right:D ).
**Welding on the steering knuckle...:shaking: again some may but BCB will not due to liability and **its just plain wrong. I am a firm believer in spending more money to get it right the first time if **thats what it takes, than redoing it later and possibley getting someone hurt. Yes i know you **can epoxie the inserts in or zap a "small" tack weld on them, either way the larger washer and **or castle nut is larger than the opening and will not pull through under 99.9% of situations. BTW **you ever try and and ream through welded up "areas".....Easie way to burn up your cutter and **its just hard as hell.

Or use the medium taper units you can get then ream them out after they are in??
**Thats a thought but i would be worried about the wall thickness after enlarging the boar. Its **something to look into.

1 good possible way, but there has to be someone making them already I would think. I would not think i am the first person to try this on a ford knuckle??

We are going to switch to 3/4 ton Chevy outers. Still would like to know if someone makes these for future projects.

I am in the process of setting up my soa 44's right now and will soon be doing the same for my steering. You can get the 3/4 ton chevy inserts from this guy, Mike will be glad to sell you a set. Look it up on the website and there is free shipping I believe.

I was wondering for those of you who have done the chevy knuckle swap for high steer what is the tie rod and drag link length, I have a cj but the tie rod should still be the same. Mike sells the threaded inserts for the ends of the tube as well.
