Today was check in and tech inspection. Walker and I went over to where the event will start tomorrow and did a little prerunning. Moon Rocks is a small place, about one square mile or so but it's got lots of nice climbs and challanges.

I looks like a fun time for all tomorrow! More pics tomorrow night!

I think those switches are for the cargo light, muffler cooling fan, and radiator shroud lubrication module activator. Wish I were there:(

Yeah, those are definately the switches that come with ARB air lockers, wish I had some in my rig but I am poor. Just have buddies with them in their rigs :D . Those portal axles are the coolest thing I have ever seen, I want some...

correct me if i am wrong but if you and walker preran the course isnt that cheating ? i thought no competitor was allowed to walk or prerun the course .
if that is the case he should be DQ'ed

I think there's a difference between pre-running a set course and doing some practicing on the same general obstacles. Trust me, the amount of wheeling that takes place on or near the ARCA locations right before the competition is pretty intense!

If he was running the exact same course, it wouldn't be right, but I got the impression from Chris's post that they went to run the general obstacles...

Yep, the right switch is 'ARB compressor on', the other two are front and rear ARB switches. Notice the thumb pushbutton on the shifter handle too. That's the starter switch now so if he should kill the engine, just tap the button and go. :D Pretty cool. The silver handled lever between the seats controls locking up of the rear brakes for sharp turns. It also incorporates a microswitch that releases the rear ARB and locks the left rear wheel as you pull back, and also releases the ARB to lock the right rear wheel when you push forward. Release the lever and it returns to center, unlocking the wheel and automatically engaging the ARB again. Also at the bottom of that unit is the switch which controls the hydraulic powered rear steer unit. On the floor is a 'protected' rear steer interrupt switch so the rear steer isn't 'accidentally' activated... WB has done some really nice work. He also cut, bent and welded all the floor and dash out of aluminum diamond plate. Oh yeah, He's good... :D:D:D

Glenn, thanks for all the info. I thought thats what they used the silver lever for but never thought of having it turn the ARB on and off automaticly.:smokin:

Now thats a high-tech rig. I'm still cracked up a bit by it though..... its got all of this amazing custom fab work, and then a wire tie. Color-matched at that:flipoff2:

if he is running ARB's they might be the only thing he can run in those volvo axles. they are a full volvo axle assembly right?? or are they just portals grafted onto what might be a toyota housing......talk to me people. :D :D

Thats not the only place you'll find wireties - they hold the radiator in place!
Yep and have for quite some time, only 3 of em less I missed somethin.
Hell I saw wire ties holden several radiators in place this weekend - definetely light weight!
All the tube work on this was done with a manual bender and all joints are TIG - they are beyond perfection!
Some may recall this used to be a Toy p/u, it now weighs approx 3600lbs.
SBC, NV4500, Atlas, 60's, Warn8274, tube galore, plate, fluids.
By far the most unique adaptation I spotted were his custom made steering knuckles - they were mentioned awhile back here on PBB, but this thing has em on all 4 corners, maybe it helps it drive out of side flops - which he demonstrated.
This video will be worth it!

Brad, what have you been :smokin: ?? :D What you see are the clutch and brake pedals. The throttle is just to the right of the brake pedal. It's just a small (1/4") tube about 6" across, that's welded to a connector that 'floats' through a small hole and is directly connected. (less moving parts to break) The tube turns up on the right side to keep his foot from slipping off. Nice job WB... :D:D:D

Give that man a cigar. You can see the cutout in the floor for his foot to press on the gas pedal rod also.

It's definately a trailer queen. He fired it up in his garage the other day and you can turn those big tires with just your hand on the steering column nut. Awesome big ole hydraulic ram up front. He don't need a steering wheel. A door knob would do... :D:D:D

Believe it or not... This is what WB's rig looked like just a couple years ago when he first got it...
