I need some 1-18R threaded nuts to use as jam nuts on the steering I am making. Does anyone know where I can get some?

You might give www.bakerprecision.com or www.speedwaymotors.com a try. I know they stock the 3/4" stuff and they might have what you are looking for but I don't know for sure. :D :blender:

I know Roggy and Avalanche have 7/8-18.

You're right - 1-18 IS odd!

Just to let everybody know, I found a shop that will have them made cheaply. He quoted me $5 for two 1-18 jam nuts. I bought 5 sets so that I wouldn't have to go through this shit again.

That's his cell phone number, so I'm not sure if I'd go calling it all the time unless I was really interrested. I don't know the shop number.

Go to auto-zone and by a tie rod and then rob the jam-nut off it in the parkin lot then you take it back and say "There is no jambnut in this box. And then I decided I don't need it anymore"

I only hope you are joking! People that do this shit really piss me off. Wasted an hour and a half today returning a printer that was missing some shit!

Have you got a set of vernier calipers? If so, I have some that measure .960 on the inner diam. They look to be fine thread, and may work for you. They are also jam nuts.

They came from a set of the bigger Johnny Joints on Curries adjustable J-arms. If anyone knows what that size is maybe they can help figure it out also.

I just whipped up 3 sets of 7/8 - 18 jam nuts (1 right and 1 left per set) so if someone REALLY needs to have a set I can put them in the mail whenever. :p

Thanks for the offer you guys, but the jam nuts I was refering to in this post were 1-18, which I found extremely hard to obtain. I found a source for them now though so everything is good for me. :)

I know. That's why I bought 5 sets now . . . so once everyone sees this post and bombards the poor guy with orders for nuts and he raises the prices, I don't have to pay them. :D

HAHA! I called him today to see when my stuff was coming and it is all coming on Mon. He did inform me that the prices on those jam nuts has now gone up to $10/set though! :D Evidentally, his machine guy got tired of making them so he had to find someone else to do it. Have ya'll been ordering the hell out of some nuts? :)

Good news is that the new ones are bigger and thicker. He says you could even weld them to the end of a tube to use as the threaded portion of a tie rod.

LMAO

I was making up some custom "air injection port" aluminum plugs. I've probably make up about 400 of those suckers... to the point now that I don't ever want to see another one (14mm x 1.5mm x double stepped end). Only way I'd make more is with a Turret Lathe, or a nice CNC lathe with an automatic bar feed.

After too much  it is funny what happens when I get used to "reduce, thread, step one, step two, cut off... advance and repeat".

Ya, somethings are fun... but after 100 of them, it gets too darn tedious!
