I tried searching and found lots of post about "flat top knuckles" but never read anything about what year they were used.I need the pass. side flattie for my 44 and need to know what year they were used so I can find one a little easier.Just a simple 19** to 19** would have been fine.I might be a newbie but i've been around here long enough to know that you search before posting. Thanks:smokin:

I did a search on ColoradoK5 at it seems that they came on some but not all 76 or 77 and older Dana 44s

Doesn't really matter what years they came on.Just run to your local junkyard and look around.Should be able to find one. know there are lots around my area.Blazin:flipoff2:

My '72 K20 D44 has a pass side flat top. My brother in law's '76 K10 D44 has a more rounded top knuckle. Those are the 2 I can look at right now.

If I remember right the 3/4 ton knuckles will work.I have put 3/4 ton spindles on 1/2 ton knuckles before. So it should work the other way around.Blazin:rasta:

The knuckles are the same - it's the spindles and wheel hubs that are different.

I could use one of those passenger side flat-tops if you don't mind shipping it....

You just have to know the right people to get the right deals. The place where I get my stuff from has hundreds of axles, mostly chevy. The guy out there was going to let me have 3 14bolts for $400, and 3 front 60's for $1000. He's trying to get rid of that stuff but no one wants to buy it, so he thinks. Cheap and complete 60's are easy to find, like I said you just have to know the right people. I was also able to get a brand new warn M8274-50 winch for $736.47 that includes tax. If you guys want an axle, let me know, maybe I could work something out for you.

3/4 ton knuckles will work on a 1/2 ton rig, BUT!!!!!! The tie rod comes in from the top on the 3/4 ton versions and in from the bottom on the 1/2 ton versions. You can get the 3/4 ton taper re-done from the bottom or get the 1/2 ton retapered from the top. I would recommend retapering the 1/2 ton because this will move your tierod up about 2-3 inches from the 1/2 position.

I've done this many times with no ill effects.
