I had a post up but can't find it now, it was bout a clunking noise but noone could figure it out but now it got worse when i let off the gas while its in gear to let it coast but still in gear it makes an awful loud noise almost the samr noise as when you go over those warning rumble strips when you come to a stopsign on rural highways. But it only makes the clunking noise when im on the gas, but onlyy the rumple noise when i let off the gas and its in gear.
And theres some oil coming out of where the drive shaft goes into axle housing, the oil didnt show durring the clunking- only when it started the rumble. So I know something is wrong in there so any one know whats all wrong in there before i open it up. Thanks

pinion bearing lost it's preload would be my guess. now it's moving up and down the ring gear. The movement has destroyed the pinion seal and it's time to take it out and rebuild it before it destroys itself.

Yep thts the thread. What all is involved in rebuilding the pinions? any special tools? can I put in a locker while i'm in there? I've never done work on a pinion but have friend who might know some bout it, just havn't talked to him about it yet. and where can I get what i need to rebuild? Just emailed the prev owner to find out what the gearing is.
