What are the WMS measurements of the axles?
What backspacing did you go with?
What size tires are those? They look HUGE compared to your 33s

motorcitydak 12-24-2006, 12:42 PM nice, like the radius arms. Did you build a sub frame for the links to connect to? I can see part of it in one pic. If so, do you have a pic of it? JJs on the ends?

You are correct... Ive made my arms longer, and made some other small changes but followed the Claytons kit mostly.

I had to refab ALL 4 rear long arms since I pushed the rear axle back 4-5" or so... I still have to move the Upper Coil mounts back, no bigge tomorrows project, and maybe build an upper shock truss/mount.
Fuel tank is the biggest issue at this point, I need to figure that out, before she sees dirt.
Wheel base is 112” currently.

Looks like Tommys to me... I always liked that ZJ !
Todays work progress...
Sunday work sucks…. But got a lot done.
Rear Upper Coil mounts have been relocated 5 ½” from original location.
Also welded down the lower coil buckets to the axle mounts.
Drivers side shot…
http://fototime.com/B1BDC74104B31A6/standard.jpg
I also needed to fab a front Track Bar, I had my old Poison Spyder Customs Steering (Tie Rod) from the D30 crap.
Bling
http://fototime.com/5E63DF2869CE437/standard.jpg
1 ½” OD, ½” thick

2” Johnny Joints at each end, from Clayton Offroad.

Checking for clearances

It fits…
http://fototime.com/19F9E97366EAD33/standard.jpg
This is by no means the flex, I have TONS of cutting to do. TONS.
Driver front tire is only rubbing on the front bumper at the moment.

http://fototime.com/B4B20DF7E468DD7/standard.jpg
Stuff to do.
Steering, I have everything just need more time.
Fuel tank… I need to remove it and determine if I want to Raise it into the rear Cargo area, or install a cell and up into the cargo area, which would require fabbing a new floor for the cargo area.
Limiting straps. Without a doubt, or the rear coils will be all over the place.Adjust and set from axle angles.
Remove all ABS system
Install Line Locks etc etc etc.

6Planetary 242 w/SYE Not my first option but by next summer Atlas is the choice.
Where did you get your front brackets?
Yota Tony 01-01-2007, 11:26 AM Brackets are Clayton IIRC.
$400 :( you have to be kidding me
AprilzWarrior 01-01-2007, 11:08 PM $400 :( you have to be kidding me
Thats a COMPLETE kit, sway bar mounts, coil mounts and buckets and coil retainers. Shock mounts, Lower control arm mounts, and 2 upper control arm mounts counting in 3 johnny joints. Also a raised track bar mount.
Thats all 1/4" material, and the coil buckets are totally boxed, and nothing hangs below the tubes.
Can you show me another kit that even compares ? Id like to know of another. REs doesnt hold a candle to Claytons.
AW

Can you show me another kit that even compares ?
Clayton's kit is the nicest kit on the market (between MORE, RE, Clayton and a few others)
You could probably come in under 400 bucks using beefier or equivalent strength components from Ruff Stuff, Poly Performance, Ballistic Fab, ect

Kit is the key word. Even BTF sells nice parts as well as other mentioned.
Now price is depending on where you buy them... there are vendors that carry Claytons stuff as well.
Norcaljr 01-02-2007, 01:33 AM Looks great man.
Oh no I am not disputing the quality of the kit and I am sure it is complete.
AprilzWarrior 01-02-2007, 08:54 AM Oh no I am not disputing the quality of the kit and I am sure it is complete.
I was just giving ya info on the kit, I know its pricey.
Thing is I could really use this kit for a ZJ I am building and dont have the time to make my own brackets. I will probly be bucking up the dough for it although it is more than I paid for my front ford HP 60 :D

Just do it. I had Clayton Press the 1/2" wall DOM tube and weld on my inner Cs, so it was a no brainer to have him (with JIG) setup the front brackets with his kit. Zero regrets !
Nice! You could bounce that off a dump truck now!
RockChump 01-02-2007, 08:07 PM the stance is much better now I am glad I convinced you to go alittle longer then just long enough. I can't wait to get back out and work on it some more. I really didn't want to leave Sat night but needed too.

Nordic1 01-06-2007, 11:47 PM Yea but does it drive :flipoff2:
Your bracketry is CLEAN but relocate your trackbar to ontop of the axle, next to the coil spring
And either make or use a bracket like this:
http://ballisticfabrication.3dcartstores.com/Panhard-Trackbar-mount_p_24-1399.html
And then relocate your frame side trackbar down and over using a bracket built or bought like these:
http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/frametruss-degree-bracket-p-47.html
http://ballisticfabrication.3dcartstores.com/Panhard-Tracbar-Frame-mount_p_24-1441.html
And do the setup like the pic I attached

I think it will have mad bump steer and you need to lower it about 4" or more :D
like chase said move the Track bar brackets higher on the axle and lower on the frame.

AprilzWarrior 01-22-2007, 11:26 PM Clayton has got this whole thing covered… since the original track bar mount is too low for my application, he laser cut a taller bracket with 6 mounting holes to choose from…

Im also preparing to install Full Hydro steering in the next few weeks so adding a driver High Steer arm is needed... on the BTF arm and Dedenbear knuckles you have to drill out the threaded portion of the arm that the cap screws into... then taper it. I found out also that the Arms are all taperd for TRE's so that got drilled out to 3/4" for the heim's.

(for those choosing companies for Hydro setups, both PSC, and POS were very helpfull and polite, I tried talking to Howe and all they did was bash other companies over the phone. I figured if they were this difficult to deal with before buying anything; how hard would they be to deal with if I had an issue with one of their parts ? Im saying that Howe was very rude.
I actually ended up buying almost my entire Hydro System from Sean at POS... and Ill be getting those parts in a couple weeks.

Great looking build. One question: did you "box" in the tall skinny backside trackbar bracket? Or brace it somehow to the axle? The front looks sturdy enough, but the back side brack looks a bit puny. I torn 1/4" plate trackbar brackets twice on my rig, before I finally made one stout enough.

MassZJ 07-26-2007, 05:37 PM That's pimp.
Tommy_M 07-27-2007, 08:39 AM Thats the high perfomance pump from PSC right. When i bought my kit from Krawltech a couple years back I found that the pulley they supplied didn't fit right. It seemed like it didn't line up right with the rest of the pulleys. I actually used the stock pulley and it lined up perfectly. Probably becuase I used the stock pulley, I feel this pump is under powered for larger tires. When I have I tire pinned it seems like it doesn't have enough power to push the zj like i thought it would.

AprilzWarrior 11-17-2007, 07:52 PM I won a Hydro Boost system from VanCo Power Brake Systems, and just finally got around to installing it, very very nice unit, complete at that.
Van, custom built the mounting plate for my firewall, by vehicle make/model.
Install was straight forward, remove old crap, align new stuff, hook up lines and bleed out air from brakes and Hydro lines. My Jeeps a crawler so there wont be a high speed test, but it takes little effort to lock up the 42"s.

Lines lines and more lines... ugh...
http://fototime.com/E2A30C5AA1BD48D/standard.jpg
I broke down and bought a Currie AntiRock as well...
As per the directions, youre supposed to mount it farthest out as possible (near bumpers, pointing inward), without creating a rock magnet I ran the tubing through my uniframe near my upper 4link arms, this seemed to give the best clearance and still be functional, infact worked like a charm...
http://fototime.com/2213DBF4EFC0EDB/standard.jpg
Since the Currie unit was Universal, I ended up cutting the DOM down, 3" actually was removed. The arms were also to long, and they too cut, but more like 4" removed...

vetteboy79 11-20-2007, 02:23 PM Nice man - I just threw an Antirock on the rear of mine too.
http://pages.prodigy.net/dmacock/antirock/DSC02480.JPG
The picture is deceiving, it's a good 6" inside the bumper...I like how you did yours though. Mine hasn't been a problem at all where it is but it's easy enough to change.
Great product though, made a TON of difference in stability.

I would try and get a good side shot of yours, it does look like you "could" tag it and ruin your day.
The Anti-Rock is a great idea and produc, no doubt.

We run our anti rock on the comp buggy on the back side and its actually the furthest part of the chassis and no problems X fingers. we have ran with it both on and off in practice and it such a help in stability especially with 2.0 Air shock. It really keeps the buggy planted
the amount of stability from the sway bar is rediculous. it actually helps with traction when flexing due to the downward force of the drooping axle that is transmittied to the tire in the up travel thus adding more pressure and PSI to the tires contact patch.

I went with a 44" BUT thats based off how wide your "frame rails" are.

The C's and Knuckles are Dedenbear Orange (power coated). The rest is just OSH Orange rattle can.
I know I sound like a dumbass but I also have dedenbear knuckles, I like the way you painted your calipers. I can't find anything here in a spray can to match. What is OSH paint?

No, I didnt have the right materials to do so.
I used what I had, 1 3/4" DOM and 1 1/2" DOM both .120 wall.
Air bumps start at 2" I believe.

Clayton uses custom made springs to his spec, that much I do know. Around 1-2 years ago he used RockKrawlers.
Besides I heard RK dropped the ZJ line of kits.

zapata41 07-31-2008, 07:48 PM thats cool about the rates, i know they are soft cuz i can squish them a few inches just by leaning down on them. the front of the jeep has about 8" of compression as static ride height. how much can you compress that truck by leaning on it. i am just trying to get insight as to if the springs are too soft
