I was thinking about doing a SAS on an 04 f150. I was wondering if this was possible with the abs sensors on the front axles and the vss on the rear. I was wondering how the truck would act if they were removed. I can not get a straight answer. I have heard that it would work just fine other then your speedometer wouldn't work and you would lose your antilock brakes. Others have said that the truck will not shift correctly and possibly not run at all. Is this true. Is it alright to remove the sensores or is there another way to re-route them. I want to know if this build is possible before I start buying parts.

Thanks

All i can say is unplug em now and try it...these trucks are very confusing...i did my 97 F-150 about 2 years ago...they have multiple sensors reading the same thing, and it can be hard to judge which has the most effect.

97-98 F-150s use a tone ring in the rear diff, as well a a VSS in the tailshaft....but from my findings the tone ring affects the truck in no way, the VSS gives you the speedo and odom....but neither affects the shifting.

99-03 F-150s use the tone ring in the rear diff for speed from what i have heard, and im not totally sure if it affects shifting or not.

04+ is confusing even more. I would unplug sensors one by one now, and then try then all off...see what happens. Either way i would choose to run a rear diff with the tone ring (Sterling 10.25 or 10.5).
I dont really see the front sensors affecting anything but the front abs.

I might would also contact the BTF guys...they said they used some goofy setup to make the speedo work.

I thought about running one of the sterling axles but I want to run a gear lower then a 5.38.... was leaning more toward a dana 70. Is there a way to drill a hole in the rear pumpkin and install a vss. Does anyone know if the dodge SRW D70's have a VSS in them. If anyone else has a for sure answer about the sensors let me know. thanks alot

PS..who are the BTF guys?

I think the D70 should probably have a tone ring, like all the other ford rearends. But i am not sure; i would imagine it would depend on the type of 70 also.
