I have found a used rear axle in a savage yard that from the info I have gathered is a 14 bolt Semi Floater, I am told it came off a 1992-1997 C-20 2door, What ever that is? Does anyone have one of these units under there rig and what do you think about it going under a Jeep YJ? I found it has a unusual brake drum, lots of extra space between the axle mount and the brake shoes.:)

It's a pretty big and beefy axle to hang under a small vehicle like a jeep, doncha think?

I mean, unless you're gonna do something that means your gonna need that beef...

if you are going to buy an axle that large to run under your jeep I would go with the full-floating version. much stronger

I think the 14 bolt is around 550 pounds Disk in the rear are easy with A E brake cable mod your ready. They hang low and need VERY big tires to clear the pig.I have not found one yet that did not have some sort of locker. :flipoff2:

Sounds like your talking about the full float version. The C14SF is a much smaller c-clip axle. Although still stronger than a 12 bolt, it's not even playing the same game as a C14FF. IMO, a C14SF compares to a 12 bolt about like a 12 bolt compares to a 10 bolt...

what tires are u going to run because if they are not big ie, 38's the 14 bolts hang really low under the diff and will hit and drag on rocks and ruts. The FF are really strong,

I've never heard of one in a Jeep, but it does'nt seem like a bad idea. It's a 9.5" ring gear w/ 33 spline (I think) shafts & c-clips.
Like others have said, it would be between the 12b & FF14b for strength. Compared to Danas, it would be between a 44 & 60.

I was actually going to run only 36's but now i don't know. I think maybe I should find a 9" rear end thats about 64"Wms to Wms. Have it redrilled to fit my current rims. I priced the drums that are missing from this axle(14SF) and they are a pretty penny, $134 each. I diffently need to get rid of the junk that is under hear right now.
