Has anyone eliminated the rubber mount and just bolte the tranny direct to a flat skidplate?
Bad vibes?
Drivetrain breakage or excesive were from vibes or just anoying?
My buildup includes a 4 banger ax5 231. 5" Long arm lift 44s front rear. 36s max. I have MORE's 6cyl mounts on .5" spacers.
1.5" BL so plenty of room to go up. Just looking for every possible inch. Is this doable?
I am roughing out the skid now. Will check back in a couple hrs.
Thanx

Would be better with the poly tranny mount I have now.

Thanks,
That is what I am doing. I was just looking at the mount and thought maybe bolting the tranny direct would be easier and gain another .5"s. I will probably do exactly as you did, or cut the stock pc off the stock skid and use that.

I was thinking about this the other day. What about mounting some hangers on the inside of the frame rails and then running a tube across with the tranny mount on that. Then put your flat skid on. That way if you take the skid off you don't have to support anything. Was thinking about doing it in T4 or 6...

If you search for flat skid plates lots of others have done that.
Hellbender, CMK, Brad Kilby to name a few.

No rubber is fine if you solid mount the engine too. I wouldn't do it if you have rubber engine mounts though unless you wanna crack your adapter housing or (worse) the tranny housing. Your teeth will probably rattle a little more though...
... my ears are ringin'.
The flat skid is always do-able. Just be ready to dink around with all the gremlins that pop up from jacking the powertrain that high.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend going with a solid tranny mount though. Enough people complain about the vibes from the poly mounts let alone a solid mount.
Besides, Jeep actually setup the TJ's tranny mount (at least on the 4.0/AX15 combo) well in the sense that ditching it and going to a solid/simpler mount really won't save you more than ~0.5".

What gremlins come up?
On engine and tranny poly mounts. I have a friend who just did this to her jeep. OMFG - you can feel the engine running now. makes the 4 cyl sound twice as big with the entire jeep vibrating.

Thanks guys,
Its done using the stock mount part of the stock skid. Basicly did what Nasvik did on his orginal skid only I used the stock pc of the stock skid where he made his own mount in the middle. Other than that they look about the same.
