Hey guys... We picked up two quads last weekend in ROUGH shape. One has a Warn A1500. It was all disconnected.

No problems with the big, juice-carrying wires... Two wires from battery to the bottom of the controller switch. Two wires from the side of the controller switch to the winch. Simple enough. If they're backwards, I'll switch them around. :D

Searched the net, searched here, couldn't find a wiring diagram for any warn winch, and I have really only one question:

Where does the li'l red wire from the relay/solenoid connect to?

Is it to the 'ignition' keyswitch - 'accessory-style' - so the winch won't run unless the key's on... Or...

Does it connect to the winch controller switch somehow?

According to this website, I'd guess that it goes to the ignition circuit so that the winch only work when the key is on. This guy bypassed it. Hope this helps. http://users.air.on.ca/cbjaps/ATVZone/info.htm#Warn%20Winch%20Installation
