Cal-rocks was awesome today (saturday). I'm sure that more people will post with all the good information. Just wanted to let everyone know that it was a great turnout and the competition was excellent. Everyone that went with us had a great time. If you didn't make it, you missed a good time.

Honestly, we couldn't be any happier with it, I'm sure Nick will write a long post too. All things considered, it did better than we expected. We got off to a rough start as you can see in the pic, but it was mostly due to not being familiar with the rig. Keep in mind, the only driving Nick got to do in it was loading it on the trailer friday at noon. We had absolutely no idea how it would handle on the rocks. The steering is real fast (1 turn lock to lock) the clutch is either in or out and the coil overs need to have different spring rates (we weren't able to charge the shocks without lifting the rig, so we were running 0psi of nitrogen). Neither one of us had ever been in a competition before either. The whole event was a learning experience for us and we vastly improved as the day went on ask anyone that saw our run up course 7 at the end of the day. We had the fastest time (counting the roll over and recovery) until Brutus beat us by 3 seconds! We made the toughest course look pretty easy. The buggy is going to have a few more goodies on it for the next competition. We're taking this week off, after logging over 100 hours on it last week, then we're going to fix the current problems and modify it to make sure that we're competitive in the unlimited class. Thanks to Rich for putting on one hell ofan event

Thanks, ifNick doesn't see this for some odd reason, you can send the tape to me too. We ahd a blast on 7, after watching so many people struggle before and after we ran it, the roll over and recovery was a topper, it secured us a spot on the video too.:D

Wilson, I have some pics I will email you and/or him in the next day or two. I thought the buggy was kickin ass.....not certain the obstacle number,(the one where you went over a rock pile, made a hard left and then back up and over the ledge) but he caught some air coming back up the ledge......he ran that one with about as little effort as I saw all day. I was real impressed. ;)

and recovery

Wilson

Too bad we were too nervous to think about that on the first course. We actually self-recovered 2 out of the 4 times we flopped yesterday. The first we didn't even attempt, and on the third, the rear wheels were bound on a large rock, making it impossible to recover from that position, it had to be winched down first and then we righted it.

Thanks, that was another run that went pretty well for us. Tommybronco was standing next to Walker Evans, after we ran that obstacle, Walker turned to Chris Geiger and said "that's the line we have to hit" My email is j5dawg@aol.com

It was kinda nice having him in front of us, till he called it quits. We had a few bugs that we needed to work out between runs. He got stuck/broke on every course he ran, I think that he only made it through 4? Not sure why he was in the unlimited class?

Big Rich
05-14-2002, 09:48 PM
Yes steve serini was in the unlimited class, and gave it all that the rig had. it was not a kind course for full sizes.
Thnaks for the knid words, I'm sure there will be others that think it sucked ofr one reason or another. After 3 shows we are getting better:D :D

Moon Rocks was a great location, and Bob Roggy is a course setting master. I've been to alot of comp's and I'm glad Bob is setting our courses.
