: four link early bronco
fordnut 12-28-2006, 02:54 PM ok so ive done some searching and checked out a lot of 3 and 4 link trucks not just broncos. so here is the deal i would like to do a front and rear four link on my 69 bronco , stretch the rear 4 or 5 inches , front maybe an inch or 2. i have the 4 coilovers, and my custom built dana 60s already, and of course the truck and a ton of link crap so whos done it on there early bronco , i really want to see pics and hear about any hangups with front end clearing everything(frame , engine etc). the rear looks pretty straight forward , its the front that looks like it will need some planing. im not afraid to remove any crossmembers or make new ones.
couple specs so far:
69 bronco tub
351 gt40 engine
zf 5 speed
atlas 5.0
custom built hp60 front 65in wms
custom built hp60 rear 62in wms
lots of other crap
thanks:flipoff2:
mpcrewcab 12-28-2006, 04:02 PM I am in the process of doing the same I have the front and rear 4linked and will see if I can post pics later tonight. Mike
fordman1978 12-28-2006, 06:14 PM im getting ready to do about 12" of lift with 4 link on my 78 f-150. its getting rockwells and 53" michelins. its going to be a little bit of work.
fordnut 12-29-2006, 07:15 PM so nobody has a 3 or 4 link bronco.
broncojohn 12-29-2006, 07:40 PM I'm in the fab process of a triagulated 4 link.
Lower links are going to attach to the bottom of the frame just aft of the curve up for the axle relief. The uppers are where I'm stuck. I have the joint at the axle in process; its 1.75" DOM sleeved in 2" DOM with an ACME screw connecting the two in the front for the pivot and the 1.75 is going to be attached to the axle with a bushing, I'm hoping it will perform better than a joint. The upper arms attach to the 2" DOM. The Frame attaching points are what I'm trying to figure out. I want to set them a little higher then the frame parallel to the frame but I havent figured it out yet.
mpcrewcab 12-29-2006, 08:39 PM I just started a thread at classic broncos about my front and rear 4link eb. My epper front links are in the frame itself so they are out of the way. I will see if I can add pics later that show it. Mike http://www.66to77.com/forums/view_topic.php?id=437&forum_id=5http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93937
SonicDonkey 12-29-2006, 09:13 PM Im running a modified radius arm in the front with the track bar still and starting the rear triangulated 3 link on the rear now as well. The lower links are 43" long running even with the bottom of the axle tube on the axle and to the out side of the frame rail about 1" below the bottom of the frame. I will put a slight bend in the lower arm about 1' forward of the axle once the spring hanger is out of the way for a little bit of extra clearence. The uppers will be a wishbone, about 36-38" long mounted to the inside of the frame rails about 4-5" above the lower mount. At the axle, the pivot will be a Rubicon Express Builder Ball, HDSF1. http://www.rubiconexpress.com/Products.aspx?pn=1978&Vid=AA0EF5463364 the truss will be 2" x .120 wall DOM with a gusset braced to a ruffstuff specialties HD D60 rear cover http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/differential-protection-c-5.html?osCsid=4e7babcf2988d5468a16ed923bd35f48 If I get a chance to work on it this weekend Ill snap some shots and post it.

mad_boi 12-28-2007, 11:54 AM There's a build up Polyperformance did on Wayne Static of the band Static-X over in the general 4x4 forum: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=405013&highlight=static+x+bronco
There's an ongoing link buildup in that forum but I can't remember the name of the thread or the guys screen name for the life of me...it's a green EB out of So Cal is about as much I remember about it.
Here's another EB 4-link buldup:http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=553312&highlight=early+bronco+4+link
lil-bronc 12-28-2007, 10:35 PM Good stuff, just to add another person with an EB 4 link. Search my user name, with post started in the Ford thread. I did a whole write up on four linking and dove tailing an EB. It was a lot of fun, I just hate sheet metal when its all said and done.
Just my .03.

I believe you're talking about Mike Bautista's build. His handle here on Pirate is Ownerbuilt. Here's his build thread: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=434171

mustange70 01-09-2008, 12:46 AM 351 gt40 engine
where did you get that custom build i take it (unless you got lucky and found a wrecked first gen. lightning or bought a crate engine from ford)?
fordnut 01-09-2008, 10:41 AM yeah my friend works a junk yard and got me a super low miles first gen lightening engine.
mustange70 01-09-2008, 11:00 AM lucky bugger, those are a good stout motor to begin a build from (good heads, full roller etc)
cobronco69 01-09-2008, 08:36 PM Just another 4linked EB here. Stretched 9" in the rear and 3 in the front....
