im working on a 90 t0 93 ford explorer 4x4 its a push button four wheel drive and it doesnt work acts like it has a blown fuse but there all good when you push the button the lights by the button dont even come on and the fuel gauge doesnt work are these problems related? thanks in advance

have you checked the wires that go into the shift motor on the tcase? might also check the wires that go to the sender unit on the fuel tank, although that may require removing the bed. i think theres a write-up on www.therangerstation.com about removing and cleaning that shift motor...might give you somewhere to start...

i had a 93 ranger that did the same thing with the 4x4. and the electric motor on the t-case was dead. but it could be the wires to.

will the front diff not engage if the transfer case does not shift when it engages the front isnt that what makes the light come on thanks for the help
