here are some pics of my project to disprove the ones who insinuated that I might not actually have a rig. Here it is half way done or so (actually it cant be half way done because halfway to infinity is still infinity but whatever).

Fake beadlocks??? Those are champions with red anodized rings and I am selling them in favor of the hummer beadlocks when I go to 42s. I wouldnt be caught dead with fake beadlocks, those things are for the ultimate posers. aand as far as it being clean. I just cleaned it because I couldnt get motivated about working on a nasty vehicle.

What he said.

Why would the flaming begin? Looks good to me.

Why do you feel compelled to run Rockwell's again?

Anchorage? Your jeep is in TX right? Jeep looks good anyway. Must be in texas since it looks way to nice to be an Ak rig:D

Looks great! One thing I would suggest is lowering the shoulder mounts below the backs of the seats. If you rolled you could slide out with them like that.I think it is recconmended to mount them 4" below your shoulders.Blazin

I hope you don't plan on using those harnesses. Relocating as mentioned above would be a good idea.

i would not lower the harness mounts as when you get into a forward impact the harness will force you down in the seat causing back injuries. nice advice. why dont you recomend he hacksaw halfway through his roll cage while your at it

I am from anchorage but I am going to school in texas right now. It will be coming back to anchorage in about one year though. As far as the rockwells are concerned I am going to them because I am going to rear steer and from everything I have heard from people the 60 front ends dont work well in a rear steer application. I just think that those 1700 series u-joints are the way to go for rear steer. Plus my drive train is going to be so long that it will be nice to have the driveshaft coming in six inches higher. As for the harnesses, I will be lowering them when I do all the cage mods. I am getting soem corbeau seats that will have the harness holes in them and I will be building a X bar across the middle hoop to mount them to.

First off you are wrong, they way you have them mounted now is almost as bad as mounting them to the floor. Check out www.crowenterprizes.com look at their installation tips section and you'll see that they should be mounted 1-4" below your shoulder line. Check any Nascar, NHRA rules and you'll see that they don't mount theirs to the roof and if anyone is worried about forward impact crashes.

How's that swaybar workin' for ya? Doesn't really matter because you probably can't go to fast without a rear driveshaft!

And why don't you get a winch before axles!?!

jeeper111
05-12-2002, 02:12 PM
the swaybar has been on there along time and this jeep did drive at one point. As far as a winch is concerned, I have a brand new 12000 pound ramsey sitting in my kitchen but I really dont need to install it until I can actually go wheeling.

As far as the tires go elfcruiser, the situation has changed. As I mentioned before, I need money so I am going to have to get at least 1000 for them. Ashley told me and john that you were going with mtrs anyway so I think he is counting on getting them. You two will have to work it out. I dont care as long as I get at least 1000 bucks for them. If niether of you want them for that I will sell on here. I am sure that someone would be interested in 5 15x39.5x15 that still have the little nobby things on top of the lugs!!!!

What swaybar? And it does already have a winch, think he may be putting a different one on. Maybe you should get a clue before you post...numbnuts. Oh, by the way---looks good Jeeper111.

I may be coming in next weekend. My sister graduates next weekend so I will be coming in to Dallas for that. Don't know for sure if I will be able to make it into Waco. I'll give ya a holla if I do.

Man, why did you decided to start this now? It's gonna get hot as hell there pretty soon. You need to get that house with the garage soon!

That is one nice rig and I love Rockwell's but I still cann't see your need for them that rig looks capable enough already, and why the overdrive? drop it and get more driveshaft length, no way your going to be driving this on the road fast enough with it having 2.5 tons, a sm420, and 42's anyway. nice but I cann't wait to see the end result either.

jeeper111
05-13-2002, 12:27 AM
with rockwells, the 42s and the ranger I will be doing 60 miles an hour at 2600 rpm which definitely makes 70 no problem. I figure that stock 2.5 ton trucks can go about 65 wide open and they run 39 inch tires, at 42s I should be able to go 70 without spinning the bearings in the axles too fast.

Already done it. I guess you're probably right and the entire racing and wheeling community is wrong. It happens. I would be interested in seeing your sources for this info on mounting the belts this way.

So I checked the NHRA rulebook and just in case called my bud who's father in law builds dragsters and both agree that the harness should be mounted behind the driver parallel to the floor at or below the shoulder line but not more than 4" below the shoulder. www.crowenterprizes.com check under the bottom heading that says installation tips. I am still waiting for acall back from my bud who's brother in law is a Nascar pit member.:D
