Hey there, not to familur with all the various changes in the SB Chevy, so thought I'd ask here. I'm runnin a 350 in my FJ 40 that has been tweeked a little. The dist is an old Accel electronic unit, with no vac advance. Due to my 14" dia K+N air filter, it looks like a small cap is all that will fit. Right now I'm at 36-38* total @ 2800 rpm. My thinking is, with vac adv, that I MIGHT be able to get a little better milage. Any options you Guys can think of? Thanks, Al

You will get much better mileage with vacuum advance. I have a full size HEI on my SBC and also have a 14x4" K&N with a pre-filter over it as well. It clears fine but does rub the firewall (my 71 blazer came with points). If the regular HEI won't fit look at some of the aftermarket dist's with vacuum advance.

The big cap HEI will fit with a 14" K&N. If you have a drop down type of air filter housing, just get a spacer like you find on the TBI unit. Then you can run whatever dist you want.:cool2:
