ok so i am a fod guy but this might be a deal that i cant pass up. OK here is it is. It is a 89 full size blazer with 90,000 miles on it but has a fresh motor in it wiht 30,000 miles, the body is rough but it is going to be beat on. So here are the questions.

1. Is it a 305 or 350?

2. What trans and trans case are in it?

3. Does it have a 10 bolt or 44 front?

4. What rear end is in it?

5. What size tires and lift would be good for this truck?

6. Is it worth $500 sight unseen?

I know it is alot of questions but it might be a nice winter or mud beater.

Could be either a 305 or 350
If its an auto it will have a TH700R4 and a NP241 t-case
It will have 30 spline 10 bolts front and rear

Its probably worth $500 if it runs, plus it will have TBI

it is an auto. I how difficult is it to install a 14 bolt into one of these. Is there much to change around from a 10 bolt to a 14bff

If you get a FF 14 bolt from a 3/4 ton truck you will just need to redo the emergency and hydraulic brake lines and move the shock tabs. 1 ton trucks have different spring perch spacing so if you get one from a 1 ton you would have to move the perches as well.

I'm pretty sure the shock tabs are in the right place if you use a 3/4 ton 14 Bolt FF.

Yep. 3/4 ton is a direct swap.

Could it not also be a np208 tranfer case???

edit ... went back and searched. Looks like the swap from 208 to 241 was the 89 model. But the 350 was standard engine...no 305 available.

If it runs good, buy it!! If you don't I will buy it! jk I already have three blazers. 79,88,89. In my opinion the 89-91 blazers are my favorite. TBI350/700r4/NP241/30spline10bolts.

I paid 850 for mine (92,000mi)and it was a rust bucket but it runs real good. If you want a 3/4 ton 14bolt, there is one under a 79 chevy at the pick n pull in wadsworth IL. I was there yesterday and bought the axle shafts out of it to keep as spares.

If you cut the front fenders a little you can run 35X12.5 with no lift but if you want to lift it I would stick with a 4" lift

and if you put a 14 bolt under it you are going to have to buy 8 lug wheels... and the most common size 8 luggers are 16.5" rims... they do make 8 lug 15" rims but they are few and far between or atleast around here they are... cause u are going to have 6 lug bolt pattern up front and 8 lug in the back..

8 lug 15 inch wheels are everywhere in the south.

You sir are correct. 8 luggers in 15 and 16 are easy finds.
