ok I just found out that my brake lights are not working. I am thinking brake light switch? Turn signals and running lights work. any help would be great. ohh yeah I have a 2001 ctd 4x4

you might want to check the bulb to if it uses a two stage bulb, one of the coils(dont know the name) inside the bulb could of broken

The best way I have found id to start at the begining of the circuit.
step 1: check fuse
if fuse is ok go to step 2 if bad replace fuse ( if fuse is bad check for wire shorts)
step 2: on the break light switch (using a test light) there should be a constant hot on 1 of the wires at all times. if not check wire to fuse block if yes go to step 3.
step 3: with brake pedal applied the other wire off the switch should become hot. if not replace switch if yes go to step 4.
step 4: with brake pedal applied check plugins to the brake lights with test light. if no check grounds and harness back to the cab if yes replace bulb.
