are these the things with the extra piece of sheetmetal stuck on the bottom? If so, i'd say get a real skid plate from someone like skid-row. They're TJ one protects much better (even the exhaust where it wraps around the front of the oil pan).
...and if you smash that part of the pipe, your SOL on the trail.
