We were playing around with idea of bobbing the body back to the center of the wheel well, shortening the top to match and putting some kind of flatbed on the back. oh, and chop the frame rails off right behind the shackles...

Well as most of you Scout guys can attest to the rearend of this thing is completley rusted away...not much holding it together. Torc was contemplating "bobbing" the cancer out of it and making some kind of tub/flatbed rear. He wants to retain the stock top...just chop it down... He is a fraid of a sawzall :D so I thought I could "help" him visualize with a lil photo chop.. :flipoff2: the rest of it is an "exo" that I was playing around with to tie it all in with...... Torc is giving away a case of  to the first one with the winning photochop :D j/k

I'd say go for it if the gas tank and any other issues are easily solved. Hell, you gotta chop it up anyway since it's wasted, might as well put it on a diet at the same time :D

Um, why not put on a Cabtop/Terra top, bolt in the bulkhead, and start whacking the body @ the bulkhead??? Use a little plate to seal off the gap between the quarters and the bedsides (a' la' Hayraker.)

well, as usual Hoop, you are a chopping maniac.... Looks sweet.  The only concerns I would have to address would be where to put tools, spare parts and gear. Hmmmm

Between the wheel wells in the bed, under the spare.

Maybe instead of mounting the spare baja style, mount it by the back of the cab so the flatbed is accesable to the stuff you get to more often? Like  I like that photochop, but it makes it into to much of a truck IMO. get the sazall warmed up, we can chop up both rigs....:D

You didn't see the hinge and bar? The tire pivots up, like a car hood, and has a bar that props it up, so you can get to stuff underneath easily. ;)

Dayum!!!!! Hooper, you definately know your way around Photoshop. Can you put a slight slant on the back of the cab.... like a Terra top has?

Ahh, 36 bolts. I didn't stop to count. Just got lucky I guess.

Still learning the photochop stuff. But, getting a little better I guess.

Reminds me, I should go chop something for Friday Chit Chat....

Problem with the slant is that it takes up just that much more room in the bed, and makes the rollbar sit farther back from the top and wall.

I hate exo's....
I like the length of the chop but that is not possible without going to coils, coilovers or 1/4 eliptical. You hacked off the rear spring mounts:flipoff2:

TORC - the only rotten section *I* see on your Scout are those rockers.. the rear quarters look to be in GREAT shape, relatively speaking. :D

Why not just start with an IH Pickup cab and flatbed? Let's see some more fullsize 'Binders out there. :D

Mechanos
05-21-2002, 10:57 AM
Must be hard to see in the pics :D but the corners in front of the wheels on both quarter panels are gone.... some holes around wheel openings (but that will probably get trimmed away anyhow) and the bottom portion behind drivers side wheel and bottom of endcap are gone. The passenger quarter is in great shape. probably the panel with the least rust on the whole truck..... of course, it's the one bashed to hell.

Passenger side kinda looks like I let Joe drive it up to HH:flipoff2:
