This is an extreme rockcrawling site NOT a pavement pounder site. The reason your mudtires wear out so quickly is because they are exactly that. MUD TIRES. Dont drive them on the street, they dont like pavement. I would look at a BFG MT or the ssr's. If tread wear is important to you and you drive on the street then DO NOT buy TSL's, boggers, or SX's. They will wear way too fast and shake every single tooth loose that you have in your NEWBIE head!

Welcome to the site!

for jagged rocks the bogger works ok. But the SX will hold on a side hill much better than the bogger. I ran the 35 x 14" boggers but switched to 36" TSL's. They are about 3" taller.

If you get Pro Comp all terrains and cut out every other tread lug, they look just like TSl's and last twice as long. Just get a white crayon from your set of 64, sharpen the sucker using that tapered hole thingey on the back of the box, and write TSL on the sidewall... nobody will be able to tell the difference... REALLY...

How's this: Boggers are tits in the mud but suck on the rocks unless, you really know how to drive them. TSLs are better all around. They both ware out fast and boggers are more noisy.

F@ck that!

This site is not for pavement pounders and guys who "want a more aggressive look".

If every other thread is a bash fest it's because this site is getting a lot of talk due to it's wealth of *hard core* tech. With that comes more stupid newbies who think they are *hard core* because they are getting 36" tires. They ask dumb questions and make statemants about "chicks like a tall truck" so they NEED to get bashed.

If people like this come on here, ask these kind of questions, and don't get smacked, well then their goes some of the respect this site has gained, and it will turn into JU eventually.

I like this site because I was able to learn about 75% of the info for my recent 1-ton build-up from posts or members. That type of tech belongs here, but what tires will look cool at the mall on a tall truck to make chicks look is sh!t that needs to get bashed so it doesn't show up again

you only say that because you have not run tsl's or tsl sx's in the rocks. boggers definatly have thier place. i have personally seen boggers in all sorts of situations. mud and soft dirt boggers rule. put them in straight rock and the tsl or tsl sx will win hands down. it just depends on where you wheel as to what works better.

Wow you read all 600+ of my posts, talk about having time on your hands. (Did you really read every one, or did you just search them and think you had a feel for what I know?)

I just pulled my Jeep out after a 3 month build-up all done by myself ('cept the R&P set-up). It now rolls on 1-tons and 38's with trimming accordingly. Also just had the first opportunity to compete in April, we didn't win but did well enough to be happy with our performance. I guess not having the time to travel out West for competitions makes me a poser, huh:confused:. I guess building my own vehicle makes me a poser too. I can only afford the time to compete and wheel in places within 10 hrs of my residence and that also makes me a poser? Good one.

If you read all my posts then you would know I contribute to most tech posts that I know something about, I don't like to speculate and throw out opinions or "I heard"s very often. My vehicle is a Jeep SOA and has a HP60 and 14 bolt. I typically supply my knowledge on topics dealing with those vehicles/materials if it can help, and answer plenty of emails and PMs also. Definitely making me a total poser and wanna-be, right on;)

I'm just trying give you some more background as you seem to think you know me well enough to say I'm a poser. I've been wheeling for about 7 years and have done the build in stages to get to where I'm at now with my rig. I guess that makes me a poser too, progressive learning/wheeling.

I'll smack stupid questions and just because they are seeming to happen more frequently doesn't mean that's all I do. You should really read every one of my posts if you want to say I contribute "no tech" and "don't try to help others".

If you want to stick up for someone who says
quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
sure i love to get some attention, after all, who doesnt? i dont mind turning a few heads, especially those of fine-ass girls. it doesnt matter what you drive, but if it is taller than every other truck around, girls will notice
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
be my guest. I wasn't here years ago when I was wheeling 31's and not wanting to scrub the fenders. Just like this guy shouldn't be here if he's worried about impressing people at the mall with aggressive looking tires that have a good pavement life.

By the way, chit-chat is entertainment plain and simple, just like your reply :D ;)

I agree with BigDude, this site is not for people like tmillspaw. I have been wheeling for about 4 years, and i have been a member of a few BBS's since that time. Quite frankly, I wouldn't waste time at Off-Road.com, etc. anymore because i would simply be answering everyone else's questions. There are member here that a much higher level of knowledge than i do, and i can actually learn something by reading posts here. It is my suspicion that tmillspaw reads most of what is said on this forum and thinks that we are all speaking swahili...

Scott, i like your bronco, but lay off. This web site is not for helping people learn what size tires will fit on their mall cruiser without trimming... I agree with your attitude of trying to help people, but i only want to help those who will wheel, not faggots like tmillspaw who want to look good on pavement.

Well, I may be just another newbie, but I can tell you which tire makes me HOT.

I saw a huge Ford F350 with a really cool looking set. The thing was jacked up to the Moon!! Although the driver was just a little shit, but I was so excited I couldn't help chatting him up about the tires. Turns out there were called Thornbirds. Anybody know about them?

SMC
05-18-2002, 12:42 AM
Thornbirds? Whats there to say? They are shit off and on road. They have a horrid tread life, and are more than likely the worst design Interco came up with. I know people who ran them, and didnt know what heppened. With in a month, they were damn near bald. IMO, they should be discontiuned.

On the other hand, that only one bad tire from a off road only company. No one can compare to interco's tires. Let alone thier prices.

http://www.intercotire.com will give you any info you need on thier tires. Well, besides how they do off road.
