Picked up a D70.

Specs are:

wms to wms: 65"

10.5" dia. ring gear

Shafts are 35.5" long, 1.5" dia., 23 spline, equal lengths

3.562" Dia tubes

It had 4.56 (41/9) gears and a 2 piece carrier that appears to be a Powr-Lok

It has no BOM number on the tubes.

There are numbers stamped into each of the webs surrounding the diff. Clockwise from the Drivers top web, the numbers are

1868818

030783

70

2018188

None of which appear to be a BOM.

If I had to guess, I'd say a Kaiser or M715??

Thanks for any help

BTW - It's a keeper - the damn thing is HUGE and the shafts, though only a coarse 23 splines, absoloutely dwarf the 30 spline D60 shafts I have.

if it was kaiser/m715 it would be a lot wider and have the funky 6 bolt pattern. sounds like a early 70s model van rear maybe?

Sorry, rear axle.

The width and shaft lengths are pretty close to what mine are, and my axle came out of a '73 F-350. The Dodge rears were also around that width.
