I was under the impression that you needed a GM hub to fit 35 spline shafts, but a writeup I read on 4WD factorie's system uses their stock hubs and splindles. Since 4WD's kit is down to $385, i thought I'd look into it. Anyoneone know if you need new hubs, or why these work without them? it seems like just a stock 35 spline shaft and warn hubs...
Also, whats the advantage to upgrading to a warn flange? it's only $20 more. are the lockouts so wear that you'll need to use flanges?

We seem to be running into each other alot.
Ford 35spline outters will work fine with your Ford hubs , the Yukons are a tight fit though, I had to file some notches (just yesterday) in the knuckle opening to get them to slip in. I using Mt. Logan drive flanges instead of lockouts so I can't comment on any of the warn stuff.
If your using a mechanical/ratcheting locker up front you'll probably want to stay with lockouts (if you do alot of road driving). I'm running an ARB (effectively and open diff when it's off) so it doesn't matter to me if the axle shafts are free wheeling while I'm driving, that and this rig might see 2000miles on a big year.

Yeah, I've learned on this site that carrying a grudge is a waste of time, part of the fun on here is giving someone some shit from time to time. I'm a long ways from all knowing that's for sure, I screw as much stuff up as I get built, looks like we're at similar stages in the build though. You going with hydro steering up front, that detroit is gonna be a beast to turn if your runnin big shoes.

Nice info. We haven't had anyone needing to file our Alloy USA shafts. Wonder what the difference was?

Not sure why it is, but I saw in another post that it was common (for Yukon's at least). Not much of a notch needed, maybe 1/16" deep with a round file in two places.
