: 1310 High Angle CV's

What mods if any are possible to gain a few extra degrees out of a 1310 cv shaft - I have two OEM shafts for a XJ and wanted to get some more angularity with out much $$$

The shaft will bind at full droop and was thinking if there were any tricks to clearencing the h-block or ball center area I could do at my end or would it be feasable to just get a high angle h-block and t-case yoke (in other words is the d-shaft yoke much different than the high angle d-shaft yoke) Will the entire CV head need to be replaced or can it be done piece-meal

Any takers :D

I am about to build a 3-link for the front and would like to get a few more degrees to work with...

Not a starving student but close :flipoff2:

Just climb under with the die grinder and open it up where it hits.

Thats just it - I have screwed arount with it in and out of the jeep and as best I can tell it is hitting somewhere inside the h-block the end yokes still have some room before they would be binding???

I talked to Jess about the same thing and with the 1310 your stuck at 32 degree's...his best thought was to go 1350 and sell the 10's.....

actually 34 -35 is achieve-able on 1310 - but you have to match the t-case yoke to get it- and on 1310 you have to dissassemble it and narrow up the wabler and also clearance the center of the h- not the edges- so it can rotate and not get hung on the casting lines- 289.00 and your there if you want mine- :D Jess

Pardon my ignorance but what is the Wabler and how does it relate to the function of the joint....

Any chance of getting just a h-block from you or would it be cheaper in the long run to just do a new shaft; thanks

i cleaned up the casting alittle on mine to get a few more degrees, but it's the ball that limits the maximum angle and i see no way to modify that............
i also can max my CV out, so to keep from breaking it i put a attached a limiting strap to the top of my differential to limit drop. it really don't limit the left/right articulation much at all.
there's acouple pics here http://www.geocities.com/yj3qtr_ton/limitingstrap.html

3/4tonYJ,

What anlge does your rear shaft sit at?

my 1310 CV sits at 26* after my drivetrain swap. too much?

sorry about the tech terms or slang there - the wabler is the piece inside the c/v that has the needle bearings inside - that rotates on the pin- and if you use a 2" tube 1310 c/v max angle in normal c/v geometry is 34-36 degree's depending on castings- there's a company unnamed for security reasons - :D - that offers 4 types of so called high angle driveline's that offers a 45 degree partially operating shaft - this was kinda a wonder in the driveline world until i got a hold of one- they use a 1310 ball stud 2 1/2 tube all hogged out - to a 1330 h yoke - cross joints inside to a 1310 wabler socket again- and at 40 degree's ang;e the pin is so far out of contact with the socket its just a joke- :D - i thought i'd add that tad bit of info- Jess

Oneton, i have one of the mega angle 1310/1330 mystery shafts and the h yoke was excessively clearanced, way too much material removed. everyone i show it too laughs.. then h yoke twisted. they (unamed) wanted too much $$ to fix so i just put it back together with an un clearenced 1330 h yoke and so far so good.. after comparing side by side with a stock 1310 cv this appears to give me more angle. Am i OK runing it like this?? Front d line hi torque low speeds. thanks Tony

mines at about 20*, my t-case has a 5* to the 25* driveshaft, what are some of you other running?
