: Are you familiar with V8 crankshaft dampers/pulleys ?

Hi again,

at the front of the crankshaft there is a "torsional vibration damper" with the pulleys-rims.

There are several types of them, though they seem to look all the same (unless you consider the poly-v-belt system).

I wonder what differentiates the dampers. It may make sense to have one each for different engine displacements. On the other hand everyone (most of) who uprates from 3.5 to 4.6 litre will keep the old damper&pulleys and apparantely sees no problems.

Point is I am rebuilding a 4.2 while having to keep the Rover rolling - so itīs tired engine cannot serve as a donor engine. So I start to look for a used damper/pulley assy and would like to understand them a little more so that I can avoid any wrong choice.
