orangefj45 01-09-2007, 03:45 PM just a little teaser pic of one of my current projects. going into an fj62, replacing the auto.
i know, i know. who would have thunk that orange would replace an auto with a stick?! but then again, the customer is always right, right?!
anyways, the rig belongs to dieselbiggot. should be a fun build and a capable wagon when we're all done with it. looks like this will be a joint venture between valley hybrids, FCfabrication, 4x4 labs and brett himself. so if anything could go wrong,..........
ranger 01-09-2007, 03:47 PM Thats look purdy!
orangefj45 01-09-2007, 03:48 PM i just hope it works as good as it looks!:D

GulfShoresFJ60 01-09-2007, 04:13 PM So does the shifter housing of the Toybox unbolt? Just trying to get some ideas on a remote style shifter. Kind of worried that without a shifter boot in the floor the remote style shifter might hit the floor of the tranny hump. Maybe if there is a possiblity of a closer picture or something. Just don't inconvience yourself though. Thanks!
orangefj45 01-09-2007, 04:19 PM yeah, the shifter tower on the toybox unbolts. i think we're gonna run the shifter in the stock configuration though. guess we'll have to wait and see where it's gonna end up in the rig.
GulfShoresFJ60 01-09-2007, 06:14 PM Ok thanks, I appreciate it!
RustyNailJustin 01-09-2007, 06:20 PM How the hell did you get it that clean, my atlas was never that clean straight from AA

hehe... if it came from Marlin Crawler, that is how it came... nothing but sweet!
nicely done Georg!

nicely done Georg! You're that impressed with Marlin huh? Helped my friend Greg install a bumper from Marlin on his 86 runner last night. Bumper was an inch an a half to narrow to fit the frame as it was supposed to. Took the highlift and spread it to fit. As we're bolting it up it falls off the truck in two pieces. Pieces have evenly cut ends where bumper has been tacked but not welded. Greg tells me he paid $400 for the bumper and waited 5 months for it to be shipped to him. Things a POS! Told him just to take it to the local welding shop and save himself the aggravation, shipping costs and time involved in returning it as defective. So much for Marlin:shaking:
lc tpi 01-09-2007, 07:04 PM did you even contact them and let them know of the problem or are you going to say they do shoddy buisness and dont buy from them without seeing if they will take care of the problem. helping build my neighbors 83 toy and the kit was missing small things bolt and spring hangers. let them know and the parts were there asap. as much as marlin himself helps people, i doubt you would have too many problems with them.
orangefj45 01-09-2007, 07:07 PM that's really too bad charlie. i have known marlin for just over 15 years and have nothing but the utmost respect and appreciation for him and what he's done for our hobby. i'm sure if your friend was to contact him, he'd make it right. if you've ever had the pleasure to meet him, then you know what i'm talking about.
anyways, hijack over.
the toybox and billet adapters came that way from marlin. as for the split case, i completely tore it apart, bead blasted some of the components including the case halves and painted them with "pewter" paint" another well respected member of the cruiser community and very good friend/mentor of mine taught me how to build these cases. you might have heard of him; MUDRAK!!!!!:cool2:
anyways, yeah, they do clean up nicely and look so much better this way.
thanks for the props. i'm looking forward to seeing this rig on the trail.
fj40charles 01-09-2007, 07:20 PM That looks very nice Georg. Marlin makes really nice stuff and takes care of his customers.
RustyNailJustin 01-09-2007, 07:50 PM Not to hijack but I have to put in my 2. I have had the pleasure of doing business with Marlin, met him, wheeled in Moab with him in the mid 90's and he is one of the truley best people in the business. Amazing guy who would give you the shirt off his back. If somthing slipped through QC at his business let them know about it, then post what you have to say. I bet you will have a different opinion.
Back on topic here, sorry Georg, I have ADD:D

Let me know the next time you're working on a trans or t-case, I could really benefit from your experience even if all I do is watch.
