: what the hell do i do?
does anyone know what the E.T.A on selectable lockers for the 60's will be either electric from ox or detroit...i just may have to buy a set of ARB'S i know there is mixed reviews about them.
so what the hell do i do...wait with open 60's:confused: or settle for ARB'S:barf:
THANKS GUYS FOR YOUR OPINIONS...
Welby 05-14-2002, 10:01 AM Detroits.....
GloNDark 05-14-2002, 10:03 AM Put something in there now and sell them when the Selectable lockers come out. I would imagine that a detroit for a dana 60 would sell pretty quick. :D
badassjeepguy 05-14-2002, 10:13 AM why ohh why would you spend any money on them lockers? i mean shit either make one yourself or weld it up.... right? :D :flipoff2:
id go detroit!
oh sorry guys, i forgot to mention i dont want any more detroits...its my DD and i do some driving in snow...
CaptainFleXJ151 05-14-2002, 10:35 AM One thing you could do it get some lokrites until the new lockers are out. If you are not willing to buy lockers now and change to another setup later, go with the arb's.
lockrites....:flipoff2: those are fawking horrible especially on a short wheel base with big meats ,man i had them on my cj and the sucked more then you do ahahahahah!hey what the hell are you doing on here anyways you dont even have a rig:flipoff2: hahahahaha! unless you plan on lifting and putting some axles under your bmw.:D
i don't see the point in wasting money that i don't have on something that will break anyways .. lunch box locker 's i will not run at all....
lt1yj 05-14-2002, 08:30 PM I run ARB's front and rear (RC 60's) and am on 5 years without a single problem. I've heard the horror stories too. I have a friend that has one in the front and he slightly cut an oring during installation and it didn't fail completely for 3 months. The locker still worked it just blew oil out his vent line. That was an installation problem. He's had no problems in the 3 years since.
Rudezuk 05-14-2002, 08:33 PM Why wouldnt you want to run an ARB??
I have them on both of my rigs! 2 D44's a D60 and a D70!
They are awesome!!!
OX cable lockers are kind of shitty! The cable to lock the diff is a little funky!
ARB'S huh? well they are alot cheaper then those ox's like 500$ less each locker.hmmmmmmm what about the compressor i need to go with the arb for warranty purposes right or do i just hook up a york
thanks alot guys. i just want a selectable with no hassels.
evilfij 05-14-2002, 09:03 PM How about some McNamera's
Ron
Toytank 05-14-2002, 09:05 PM ARB's and go with the York!!!
 :usa: :D :usa:
How about some McNamera's
what are those ....
york is the best way to go with stainless lines also right maybe thats the way to go a little tsssss. and a tsssss. and i'm locked and ready for way ay...:trooper:
M/C MAN 05-14-2002, 09:22 PM Wow, what a change!! TJ7 a cheap mother fawker like you buying ARB'S:eek: You must be going to the dark side of spending. What's next you going to call Dyna Trac:flipoff2: I think ARB's are 600.00 per unit. That's half the cost of that garage axle you are building. Man, you must half lost you mind.:flipoff2: Welcome:vader2: :flipoff2:
hahahahahaha:vader2: luuuuuuuuuke :vader2: luuuuuuuke
hahahahahah! your funny dude...
naw my axle is far from garage stuff dude...but i can get the arb for like 515$each but i just dont wanna constantly fawk with it ya know whatta i mean see here in NC we have tons of shit mud and water ..i know out west its dry rock so the seals dont get fawked too fast.
so stainless lines, york, and arb's front and rear 35 splines hmmmmmm.
thats the way to go ya think...i really can't see myself paying a grand for an ox locker when you cant even speak to a fawkin rep of the company just some shmuck who says i have no idea about the 60's when they will be out:flipoff2:
CaptainFleXJ151 05-15-2002, 10:20 AM Shut your filthy mouth Shawn-f*ck. Just because my rig got gone doesn't mean my brain's 4WD function doesn't work.
McNamera's have been around for a while. They use engine vacuum to lock the front diff. Like an ARB in reverse. They are available for D60's and 9", plus some other weird overseas diffs. But you knew that already I'm sure
:D
One more thing, I don't like those SS lines. Use the factory ARB ones and buy a few of there quick fix things. It sucks when instead of the line breaking, the whole line gets pulled out of the diff. Ditch the Ferrels and get some cool blue lines.
naw i heard and spoke to alot and they said the ss lines are the shit blue lines i would have to line them in some other type of tubing or coper lines just for strength.where do i find mac's from arb's really seem the better way to go now since they are relatively cheap compared to ox...

WAAAAAAAAAAAA
Sheeeee dog butch up and deal with a full time unit just get some different "Street Tires".
ARB's are only for those rock crawling west coasters who get all bound up in them sticky ass rocks.
Round here parts it's slippery enough you don't need no selectable do hickeys.
HELL "Donna"my wife has been driving her locked TJ as a DD for over three years. Wheel all weekend then take the kids to
Girl Scouts on Monday ifin she can do it you can.
Man with a rig as big as yours I'd think you would want the stoutest thing you can get?
btw (I know I'm gunna get it for this ) ARBS do kinda suck on the trail sometimes cus they are fully locked i.e. spool.
Hey btw do you wheel or what were wondering?
Let's get that shiny CJ front clipped thang out in the woods.
We have had a dry spell and I'm feeling like breaking something yours or mine :)
Serioulsy though whatever you come up with good luck:)
road1will 05-15-2002, 07:02 PM McNamaras are an excellent diff. they are EXTREMELY high quality, all those whom i have talked to that have used both them and ARBs say it is apparant right out of the box that you have a far superior product.
like ARBs they are also manufactured in the land Down Under.

road1will 05-15-2002, 07:04 PM oh yeah forgot to mention that you can get the mcnamaras in air actuated also.
OOP'S 05-15-2002, 10:26 PM Over for years with ARB'S without a problem, no probs with the blue line either!!!!!!!!
