This is for a friend of mine who just bought an 82 CJ SOA, 350 SB, SM420 to D300 twin stick. While driving it started to pop out of gear. Or so we thought. First in 4th then all other gears gradually. It pops in and out however kind of like you push the clutch in and out. We're thinking it's rather a clutch issue. If we're gentle with the throttle it's sort of OK but with more throttle it starts to do this. The clutch pedal stays kind of low after letting it up, you have to pull it back with your feet. It's a mechanical clutch linkage. It was happening gradually over the course of a few miles and got worse. Any ideas? As always, thanks for your help.

For the sake of conserving bandwidth here's a link of my post off another board that has some pictures attached:

Check for broken motor mounts. IT sounds like the motor is twisting causing the linkage to bind on something.

Remeber the motor and tranny will twist under hard acceleration.

maybe a simple clutch adjustment sounds like it is slipping
