Genuine ones.

Seem to run best for me but cost a few bucks

All I'd say is don't get Bosch platinum or platinum +4. NGK is good stuff too.

just to bring this thread back up, NKG are good, any other suggestions? and what wires do you reccomend for a '95 4.0?

I've got some Bosch +4's in the Disco...seems to run fine with no miss (unless I hose down the engine compartment...thanks Mikie!), but the idle is kinda rough. I might try a conventional plug to see if that cures the rough idle (unless it's time for a new timing set).

In the RR, I run either the cheap Bosch coppers or the cheap Autolites...I figure I have to replace them more often, but I am at least checking the plugs out more often.

How can you justify spending more than $0.98 on an Autolite?

It's just a spark plug in a forty year-old engine.

I can't see spending more $ for a Champion plug in a green box.

In my 3.5 rrc I use NGK bp6es plugs. Oddly enough, its the same plug that I use in the mini.
Been happy with them in both vehicles.

Shouldn't that be BPR6EY?

According to NGKs website the above part number is correct.

Rover fuel management sucks, I run a slightly hotter plug because of it.

FWIW, and somebody can correct me if I am wrong, but platinum plugs typically run a tic hotter than the conventional plug they replace...

I just changed my plugs. I was running the NGK BPR5EY, which I think is a hotter plug. When I pulled them they seemed to be running too hot. Almost no deposits and a white electrode. So I went back to the standard champions. We'll see what happens.

No deposits and a white ash is normal.

A grayish tan to while color indicates the correct heat range spark plug is in use, the fuel and ignition systems are in good shape and overall engine mechanical condition is good.

I agree with OS here. And Bosch platinum suck for rovers. They have no surface area and foul to early in life from rover fuel systems. That hot or the regular NGK are what I use for rover engines. The Champions are just okay for rover use.

IMHO for what it is worth.

No deposits and a glazed shiney look. definitely running hot. I know what a proper running plug should look like, and this wasn't it. They almost looked as though the engine hadn't run, that they were brand new. no bueno IMO.
