We all know those black rubber, star shaped, washers that slip on the ends of the t-case output shafts before the yoke bolts up ... that seal the ATF/gear lube from sneaking past the splines.
My question is thus:
Do I really need to replace those things after they get torn up from a few removals/installs? Or can I simply substitute them for a big booger worth of RTV?
I'm lazy in the sense that I don't feel like shopping around for a couple of $3 pieces of rubber when I have half used tubes of RTV all over the damn place.
Tell me what's worked for you guys.
Thanx.
