The jeep coils are way too soft, not sure on the spring rate but them IFS front springs are STIFF. You can however use TJ coil spacers by drilling out the center hole a bit to piut over the stock bump stops, and flip the upper strut mounts, and some longer rear shocks will help tons.

ok, so theres nothing we could just bolt up??? as in longer springs??? f-150???? massive lift, stiff, ect. .....
i'm not farmilar with kicks and havn't seen his yet so i'm not sure on any type of lift......... any way to just lower the torsion bars??? all he needs is about 1.5-3" lift and a 2" body lift...... just enough to run 31"s.........

Here are some link to a couple of UK sites that have pics of lifted Sidekicks AKA Vitaras

The ones on 33s all have 3" body lift & either ProComp or Calmini suspension lift.

The two on 35s have the same home built setup.
Drop everything on the rear 5.5 inches & lengthen the trailing arms & relocate the A arm.
Junked the IFS & replaced with a Sammi axel & spacers to get the same track as the rear. Front on leaf springs.
Replaced Sidekick gearbox & transfer box with Sammi units.
The purple one was converted in 3 days the yellow one in 2 weeks.

Who says wheeling in the UK sucks.....
The girlie pics were for a calander for the Pingewood OffRoad side & orders will be being taken soon.

How tall are you looking to go? Tire size?

Gonna go straight front axle? The main problem there is the front strut system. The spring rate of the front coils is huge! We haven't found anything OEM to replace them with, but you can use coil spacers as a cheap alternative to get a few inches of lift on the front and rear even maintaining the strut setup.

On my Sidekick I'm running Old Man Emu soft front springs. they're 17" tall and a spring rate of 150lbs. This only works with a straight front axle though. 150 is just about perfect for the 2door Sidekick. If you have a 4door, you may want to go to a 160 lb spring.

Oooops.

Should have mentioned that the OME springs we're using are from a Grand Cherokee (ZJ) and that the springs are a soft front for the 6cyl engine.

he just wants to run 31"s....... probility keeping the stock front susp. jusst wants a bit of lit, around 2" in susp. would be fine, he will hbe doing a 2" body lift soon and just need a little extra to fit the 31"s on there good........ what coil spacers work??? zj spacers??? tj??? xj?? ect.
any way to cut the front strut and weld in about 2" of pipe and keep the stock spring setup??? like extend the mounting point any??? i'm just throughing out ideas here, i'm not even farmilar with kicks at all, i got a samurai and thats what i'm staying with.......
thanks

You can flip the upper strut mount to compensate for a 1" or so coil spacer.. I ran my Geo on a CalMini 3" body lift and coil spacers on 30x9.5's in an 8" rim probably could have fit 31's with a litte trimming.

I ran TJ spacers ala Rocky Road. Get the plastic ones and drill 'em out with a hole saw.

Have him to keep his eyes peeled for some 5 speed axles too.. autos run 4.62's and the stick has 5.12's.

To fit 31's without any rubbing he'll need at least 4", though we prefer 4.5" and minor bumper plastic trimming, so he'll probably have to do a body lift too, or stay with a 30" tire.

The coil spacers we're using now, we are having special made for us. They're exactly 1" tall, but are designed to be stackable. Though you can only stack them on the front end. You'd have to use a coil spacer & taller springs for the rear. The bumpstop 'tongue' on the rear is not long enough to accomodate more than about 1 3/8" of spacer and still properly locate and house the coil spring.

The problem with the pipe idea is that the Sidekick suspension is not like dual A-arm strut suspensions. You cannot push the whole assembly down with a pipe. The strut merely holds the hub position in a certain position, it does not raise or lower the vehicle. You have to do something with the springs to get lift on the vehicle. Either use spacers or a longer spring.

ok, how much lift does grand cherokee spirings give it???? this thing is for mud and probility only mud........ so stiff-ness isn't all that much of a problem but he just wants enough lift to clear 31"s....... he is doing a 2" body lift and getting rid of the stock bumpers........

I should have mentioned that I am using the ZJ springs on a straight axle on my Sidekick. The whole vehicle isn't complete yet, but I figure that once everything is on the vehicle (fully weighted) it'll have about 9-10" of lift.

The OME ZJ soft springs are tall, but are also very soft for their length at 150lbs.

holy shit, yeah, hes looking for about 2" of lift not 10............:D......

31's on it now, with egnough room for 36's easy.22" articulation on the frame with no weight, haven't checked with the body on the frame.Still lots to do.Hopefully be done by the Zuki Melt 2003 if not then at least by the 2004 Fab Fest here in Indiana.:usa:

Hey Grumpy,

Based on what I can see in that pic, you´re gonna have real problems running bigger tires, no matter how high you go with the rig.

YA GOTTA MOVE THAT FRONT AXLE FORWARD, MY MAN!!!:flipoff2: :D :flipoff2:

Speaking of beer I do have a sawzaw and the axels will be moved when finished.Front forward 2.5 inches and rear backward 1.5 inches.Rear to be tubed and the front will be cut to fit with custom fender skirts installed.Does that cover what you saw as a problem? If not let me in on the insight.
The body will sit lower on the frame than in the picture.I am going to cut the floor pan to lower it down.Right now the body sits too high.
