Well, the ones in the pics are not computer controlled, but it would be just as easy to make one that was. Not sure who originally posted them. I got the contact information for the old guy that made the adaptor but I heard that he croaked. So I guess you would just have to use the pics as a guide and reinvent the wheel so to speak......

Thats the same thing.... a machined adaptor to mate a GM HEI to the Binder block. Don't matter if it's a vacuum advance, internal coil w/ ESC or external coil with ESC. The same adaptor would work with any of the above.....

Speaking of which...that is exactly what we are doing. The old guy 'left the building' so to speak so we were lucky enough to find one of his old HEI and are almost done machining the new peices and will be offering them VERY quickly. We're upgrading the shaft design a bit (the old guy welded the things together and let it fly) we're using a more 'modern' approach, something that will be completely rebuildable...

Anyway, keep watch.

The guy Snoopy is talking about is still around, i had him build me another HEI for a buddies scout. He won't do any non Vac advance HEI's, he wont mess with any of the computer controlled ones, do to him not having any expierece with them i believe. He charges $250.00 plus your old IH dist (for the gear). He does nice work i have had mine on for about 5 years and have never had any problems with it.

Wonder why he won't touch the ESC models. The housing (which is what he is modifying) is the same. The only difference is that the comp controlled units eliminate the vacuum advance unit and replace the 4 wire module with a 7 wire module (which BTW has the same deminsions, just 3 more wires coming out of it). Can you just give him the IH drive gear? or does he want the whole IH distributor for some reason?

Thats just what he told me, i don't know why he won't do them, and he has to pull the dist completly apart to modify them, and he also uses part of the IH shaft so he needs the complete Dist not just the gear.

This is the guy who did mine I believe (Willie Green). Mine was the first small body TBI dist. he had done. He didn't mention not wanting to do another one when I spoke to him after he finished. Very nice guy and good quality work.

That would be him Willis Green, and thats what he told me that he doesn't do any of the later ones only the Vac advance HEI's mid 70-early 80's. I never ask him if he ever did one, i will the next time i talk to him.
