I am interesred in the shackle reversal mod, for my Cj-5-Rancho 2 1/2 over springs, any info or pictures would help greatly. I am a machinist by day and welder fabricator by night so I can handle the work myself. Is there a sight that I might go to or even better a commercialy available kit that I could copy as I did Advanced Adapters chain clutch control???????
Thanks a bunch of

Check out the above site. I saw this shackle reversal on a guys CJ-5 in Fresno on the street, he said that it did wonders for the driveability of his Jeep. I was thinking of doing the same, fabricating the set up for my CJ-7, I liked the front cross-member between the front mounts, it seemed pretty beefy. He also chiseled the front mounting bolts/rivets and ran 1/2" bolts thru the frame top and bottom, which also supports the front steering box.

Will you fab me a set at the same time? How much?:D

I guess it depends on the year of the 5.

personally if your going to go thru the hassels of a shackler reversal convert it to wrangler springs, get a 4 inch lift and call it good..

Or better yet go SOA but I understand..

All thats really involved is getting spring hangers, cutting off the old ones and welding on new ones.

Pretty simple, You can buy kits but why..

I agree with the last 2 posts.
If you are going to do it, the thing to watch out for is changing the castor/pinion angle.
I.E. - if the front of the spring is higer (in relation to the frame) & the back is lower, you will be increasing castor & pointing the pinoin down more.

Thanks for all the info..... the Jeep (CJ-5) that I am refering to is a 1961 with Rancho 2 1/2 springs . I am getting closer to being convinced that SOA might be the way I go and in the mean time carry on with the SM420 swap......Thanks to all.....  :) :)
