: YJ, 350 Headers
jfairYJ 01-18-2007, 02:07 PM Just wanted to know what kind of headers you guys run on your 350 equiped YJ's, and how you like them. Its about that time in the build to buy some and I need to konw what style (bend) fit best.
I will be running a 4 link if the front so the tighter the better.
Thanks
dogsofwar 01-18-2007, 02:18 PM I need to know too. Putting mine in this weekend and have been debating headers for awhile. I've noticed some people use the block huggers.
nsanesider 01-18-2007, 02:38 PM Im running the ones from advanced adapters, in frame style...They are real close to the starter.I used a heat shield for that..no problems yet..My steering shaft is tight too..
abadbowtie 01-18-2007, 04:53 PM I will be having the same problem but have not been that worried yet I have a long way from needing them.
This has been covered in depth. I use 2.5" center dump ram-horns. I just got a set on ebay because I want to ceramic coat them for 108 bucks.
chris demartini 01-18-2007, 09:48 PM I run center dump blockhuggers from Summit. Forget about factory style motor mounts with these headers, they will melt imediatly.
Otherwise I am happy with them. No leaks or defects to speak of.
yager 01-19-2007, 06:07 AM yup ebay center dump ram horns, I bent my own Y-pipe up w/ 2" heavy exhaust tubing into a 3" collector/exhaust..

X2......IMO headers are overrated in most applications/usage (trail rig etc). I've used headers in the past and they seem to be more of a hassle than they're worth (performance wise) they can add underhood heat, can burn gaskets (the real thick flanged....machined flat.....ones are less trouble here though), can make spark plug access difficult, and can limit choices as far as requiring a shorty type of plug.

What mounts did u end up using?
jfairYJ 01-20-2007, 10:28 AM Well i may stick with the stock manifolds, Any one have any clearece issues with them?
botiejeep 01-20-2007, 10:38 AM About the only manifolds that work are stock ram horns. Thats what I have on mine and they work great
MEANGREENCJ7 01-22-2007, 08:42 PM I use center dump block huggers on my CJ. You can get them on ebay cheap,

hartmanb 01-23-2007, 11:21 AM I'm curious, do you notice a big enough difference with the shorty headers as far as torque goes, or is that just a bunch of dyno crap as far as shorty's making more horsepower, and less torque than long tubes?

Advance Adapters weld-on mounts like MEANGREENCJ7 has, appears as if he's also got the same headers as I do.

I haven't ran headers on this motor yet. From what I have been told the shortys will increase torque while the full length headers increase rpm. If you go from running a stock 2 into 1 exhaust with a cat. conv. and muffler and then switch to headers, dual exhaust, no cat. conv., and good mufflers, I think the hp and torque increase will be substantial.
If you already have non-restricting exhaust and are just swapping headers on, I think it will be less noticable.

Have you run those headers on another motor?
MEANGREENCJ7 01-23-2007, 06:14 PM yes
I ran them on a 350 4 bolt main carburated
yjwith60s 01-23-2007, 07:31 PM I ran a set of 82-91 camaro headman headers and liked them, they were cheap and fit good plus the exaust dumps in the rear of the header ,I ran the shortys .I have put a few small blocks in yjs and have used them everytime.
