: Allright everyone i need help, is it my fault or is Allied liable!!!
FourPlay420 05-14-2002, 10:13 PM Alright, today i was headed to some girls house, to hang out i have a 1990 f-150 with a t-18 4 speed, and 42" swampers, anyways i was driving down the road, when i came to a stop and i couldnt shift it into gear, and i was like WTF :mad2:. so i pulled over and the goddamn tranny slid back like 5 inches from the g-damn bellhousing. i guess it focked up alot of shit, anyways so i had a flatbed come and they towed it to Allied the place, i had install my tranny mount, and i guess they didnt tighten the bolts or whatever, and i told the manager that ya know i had the tranny mount done here, and hes like yeah, and i told him the bolts must of come loose, and hes like it woudlnt matter cause the tranny mount only keeps it from going up and down, and he was trying to tell me it was because my bellhousing bolts were loose prolly, and im like wtf even if the b-housing bolts were lose the tranny mount would of held it in place, and the tranny mount didnt break or anything, the bolts just came out, and i guess it cause the bolts to slowly work theyre way out, and i only had the mount installed like 45 days ago so do you think theyre liable for this, sorry if it doesnt make much since, since its like 2 and im focking tired and mad, thanks for your time
Chad:mad3: :nuke:
Nobody 05-14-2002, 10:58 PM so the bell housing bolts came loose? If so, I wouldn't think it had anything to do with the tranny mount. If the bellhousing broke, then it's possible the mount had something to do with it. Sounds like tough luck on your part .....sorry :(
OffRoadPoser 05-15-2002, 07:01 AM I guess my question would be why on earth you would pay someone else to change the tranny mount. It is held to the crossmember with two nuts, and it bolts to the extension housing with two bolts. You undo the nuts, undo the bolts, jack up the tranny, slide the old mount out and the new one in, lower the tranny, and put all the nuts/bolts back. 20 minute job tops.
There is no reason at all the Allied place would have touched the bellhousing bolts, so you are probably on your own.

Whatever man, if you added up all my posts on the MyBigBronco BBS I'd have like thousands of them....
That board is better than this one anyway, since none of you :rainbow: ever help me with tips on polishing my chrome diff covers, or whether or not you can fit 33's on a stock Bronco :rasta:
To answer your question though: not much, except I have a great sense of peace now. You see I replacedmy ball joint last week and I didn't worry about my alignment, because on a TTB it is :rainbow: no matter what you do...
Dude, you might be able to argue the loose tranny mount caused the bellhousing bolts to back off, but it's gonna be a hard case to prove.
saf-t scissors 05-15-2002, 10:25 AM Yeah, I'm trying to think if there would be any reason at all to back off the transmission bolts, and I can't think of any. With the M5OD, you have to remove the crossmember in order to get the transmission mount out, but even then, you wouldn't be touching the bellhousing bolts.
When was the last time you had the tranny down?
5" sounds like a lot... and you say the tranny mount was fine??
Seems like you would have noticed something when the shifter started sliding toward the back of the truck... :flipoff2:
