We have done alot of motor swaps here in the shop but we have not worked on to many TJ. We mostly work on older YJ's,CJ's and build comp. buggies. I have a customer that is wanting us to swap in a Voetec V-6/TH350/Dana 300 into a 97 TJ. Not sure what year the V-6 is yet, he has not bought one yet. Just wanted to see what trouble you guys have ran into, wiring wise. He can handle most anything just thought I would ask some of you that have already when this way with your rigs, I am sure you know more about it then I do at this point. I am sure he wants to use his old gages in the jeep and we have dealerships for a couple different wiring places. Tell me what you have learned and what not to do. Thanks a head of time. M

Kelly at 4wd.com did that to her competition Jeep. Might want to head to their forum and talk to her. There was a really good write up on there about her Jeep at one point.

We pushed my 4.2L two inches over to the passenger side in my TJ, used a Painless GM column wiring kit and a Howe harness. Howe's reprogramed junkyard computer was found to be rotted out causing all sorts of sensor fits but the stock 4.2L computer from a small 2wd Blazer I replaced it with works just fine.
I've been told converting the stock throttle body harness is a good way to go due to the quality of the connectors and huge cost savings.
See this page for more of my motor install pics

Thanks for the info, we'll do some checking on things. M
