i have a set of brand new springs for an 05 tacoma which i wanted to try building for the rear of my first gen. posted this a few other places and i was told there is a recall on them and that the set has specific sides that each pack has to be on. i cant find anything to support that except that the plastic pieces thats stops them squeaking is prone to failure......doesnt matter. so if anyone has any info on them could you please help me out, also if anyone else is running this setup, whats it like and what springs did you add?? thanks

The rear springs are different toyota part numbers for both left and right. I will do some research on Monday and see why this is, I hate to speculate, but the increased weight from the fuel tank may have been a reason to change the spring rate on one side. The parking brake cable bolts to the leaf spring, but as far as I can remember there is two tapped holes so they could be used on either side. I have done a few of the TSB's on the rear suspension squeak from the teflon pads, if the pads are white then the TSB has been done, if they are black then they are still stock from '05. I am sure that if you just greased them up they would be okay, but the fix is fairly inexpensive. If you are interested in the kit, I can check prices for you.
I hope this helps.
