Being more of a Toyota guy I don't know jack about Jeeps. Building my girlfriends 74 CJ and am wondering what power steering box to use on it. From searching on google I can't find a box that says it will fit a 74. All are for 76-86 or something. Will these boxes fit the 74? Bolt on or fabricate some brackets? I already have the pump on the engine.
Will I need to modify the steering shaft or will the one from the manual box bolt right up? How about the drag link, is that the same.
Yeah, I'm a newb to Jeeps so thanks for the help or flaming.

The '74 manual box is a GM Saginaw box. Any GM Saginaw power box will bolt directly in it's place. You'll need a CJ power steering pitman arm and possibly a lower coupler at the bottom of the steering shaft. That all depends entirely what you pull the box out of. Then there's hoses and a pump to deal with.

Go find one of the many CJ forums on the internet and search. Power steering conversions have been covered in great detail. Just don't let anyone make you think that any new box brackets or a new steering shaft are needed. I've done lots of P/S conversions and it's easy once your ducks are in a row. Any box that will work on '76 and up CJs will also work on a '74.
