85 Bronco

A solid axle in the front is a given and a HP D44 will be easy to get a hold of. What would you guys reccomend for a sus set up to make it really flexy? I want to use coils or leafs. And for the rear I was thinking a shackle flip and re location of the front hanger could net me the lift I want and provide plenty of flex using the stock springs minus a leaf or to.. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

So many things to consider...

How much money and time?

I would first start with a Dana 60 up front. Once you pay to get the 44 all upgraded and strong you would be about 2/3 done with a dana 60 that out last any 44.

Suspension, coils are great and provide less things to hang up on the trail. Just weld some buckets on the axle and frame then some links and you will be flexy. Leaf springs are flexy as well but the mounts provide less approach and deparcher angles.

either will work, depends on what you want to run. Chevy 52" leaves in the front flex very well.

Get all the brackets and bolts for the front axle from your donor truck.

Get your front springs from broncograveyard. Get the superflex springs made by deaver. Their 4" spings give you a little over 5" of lift.

For the rear get the front leaf spring hangers from the rear of your donor truck. Mount these in the at the back of your 85 with a shackle flip. Leave all the stock springs in. It will make for a good combo. Been there done that.

You will also need drop pitman arm, drop tracbar bracket, and front extended brake line. For the rear brake line just modify the mounting bracket or bypass it.

I run Cage 5.5" coils/arms which are very flexy. Their extended radius arms are very nice and allow great flex but come with a price tag.

There are a couple pics of my black 81F150 here in the snow run pics thread on my web site and I have chevy 52s up front but I want to make the bronco a lot more flexy. My concern using thouse springs is how far out the front of the truck come out. http://blackhillsboggers.forumup.org/post-185-blackhillsboggers.html#185

The cage suspension works great.
They also have new frame mounts for your application.
