They will all be pretty much the same. The spring perch width between 2wd and 4wd is the same. Just watch out you don't get a semi-floating earlier model Dana 60, they are pretty much shiite.
Also don't leave out looking for a Dana 70 out of an F350 either.

cool. i kinda need the D60. i have a friend with a disc brake kit for a D60 74-79, i dont want to deal with the spring perches, but i was going to actually cut them off and use 3x3x.25" to fab new ones. AXE

WATCH OUT!!!!!

If the rear D60 from the 2wd has 2" drums, don't get it. I made this mistake.

The disc brake kit won't work because the spindles are a different length and the bolt pattern on the flange is different.

I was using an axle from a 1976 F250 2wd. What made it have teh 2" drums in the rear was the fact that the frontend came with single piston calipers.

Just letting you know.

ok when you say 2" drums, i guess you mean the pads are 2" ?? this should be really visible right? i think the drums on a regular D60 are huge arent they? i dont know the dimensions, but it will be hard to miss at a glance wont it? AXE

Hey coryL, can you get some pictures and measurements of the spindle and bearing hub? I've got a 60 that's 63.5" and if I could swap spindles and hubs and make it a little narrower, that would be killer.

You're saying the axle flange pattern is different right? You're sure it's a 60 and not a 61 or something?

The shoes are 2" and the dimensions the brake books I've seen state the drums as 2" x 12 1/8".

I don't have the old drums or hubs anymore, but I still have the housing. I can get some measurements and pics for ya Nobody.

And yes, it is a Dana 60. Had a friend look up the BOM. It's a very strange axle.

If just the flange is different couldnt you get a different bracket & WELD it on versus say BOLT it on?

See, I thought the same thing and redrilled the bracket to the different pattern.

That is when I found out about the different length of the spindle. It's shorter than most of the others and when I went to put the hub/rotor combo on the backside of the rotor was flush up with the bracket with no room to get the pad or caliper in. There still wasn't enough room to get both bearings and the spindle nuts on either.

I'll try to get some pics and measurements today from both axles.

Yes please take tha measurement. Put that info out there. So as I understand it if you use a weld on bracket you could than line it up correctly??
