: ARB Broke

Can you beleive it....ok, ok....not the locker..but the little brass fixture that goes into the rear diff did.

I was crawling around under the 4runner looking at things when I spotted diff fluid stains on the rear. Yep, been seeping through where the ARB air line goes in. So, this morning I get out a wrench and start hand tightening. Sure enough it was loose. While tightening I noticed a CRACK. The freaking brass fixture (like a nut) cracked through.....AHHHHH the reason for the leak.

Anyone have this happen before?

ARB SHOULD cover this right? I am calling the shop that drilled the rear today. I ran the air lines, so they might try and pull that on me.

And, if this has happened, how have you fixed it?

Shouldn't your subject read....ARB fitting borke? :D

Just call up ARB and they will probably send you a new fitting for free. They have one of the best customer service centers in the industry. Don't you have a manual or parts diagram to correctly identify the right part that broke?

Yes, you are correct.

I just found the problem this morning in my work parking lot. I will get the manuals out tonight to get the part numbers. Thanks for the insite. :D

Just call them NOW and they will probably send you the whole fitting assembly so you have more parts than you need. They are really helpful. Good luck.

Got all the info at home. Nothing here at work. I have to pull my Shtit together tonight, so I don't sound like a rambling idiot. Not to mention get the phone number.

Next time don't over tighten it and use teflon tape on it.
ARB will send you a new one no prob, but a hardware store will have them too, its just a comprssion fitting

I concur with what these guys are saying ARB has the best customer service going. They sent me some replacement parts for a problem that was totally my fault ... can't beat that.

i think that compression fitting has an NPT outer diameter but the hose diameter of the fitting is odd as i recall ...

the arb directions said to put teflon tape on the fitting with the hose end? odd since that's not a sealing surface.

got your pm's. let me know if your gonna get arb to send you out some parts, i'll have to dig thru my toolbox to find them.
