Ok I have a 1992 V-6 4-runner. I have 33s on it with a 4 inch lift (doesnt matter much) anyway. What type of top speed am I looking at with a 4.88 gear? 75-80mph tops?

Thanks in advance

this wont give you your top speed but you should be able to figure it out with the information it gives you. you can adjust the rpms after you get your calculations to figure out where it would be.

My XCab w/ 35's & 4.88 gears would do 80 mph, if it wouldn't vibrate so bad at 70 mph.

Actually, running 33s and a 4 inch lift DOES matter, since your truck now has a much higher wind resistance than before. Assume at LEAST 10mph less than whatever calculator you use, maybe 15mph.

You'll be lucky to hold 80mph safely. Especially since you neglected to tell us if it's a 5-speed or auto, how many miles, and if there are any other modifications (heavy bumpers, roof rack, etc).

just so you know...some v6's came with 4.88s from the factory. i believe they were v6, 4x4, auto, and 31" tires. if you have that combo, then you might already have 4.88s

Pazuzu---Yeah its an Auto no real mods to the body. I meant the 4inch lift doesnt matter so much actually. Yeah a higher wind resistance more Im interested mostly in was the drivetrain can do regardless of resistance outside.

eightyfive---I got it free, but if it has 4.88 gears its a real dog....

When I came accross on Rt-40 I was going 85-90mph sometimes with aftermarket 32s sometimes and still had more to go, but it vibrated so bad with the shit tires/alignment it had it wouldnt make it without falling apart. Thats why I was curious of the top in the 4.88 gears. Going 80mph on 40 isnt all that quick.

So my original 75-80mph estimate was a pretty good one right? If so i think I might just still this... Im just worried about towing stuff later if need be..

f250crawler--nice link unfortunatly alot of that info I dont know, I only had these truck long enough to fix it up, lift it and put some wheels and tires on it.

Terry4X4--thanks for the info man
