I have a 78 SB that I have a ORD shackle flip on and 4" front springs and I am thinking on putting a pair of revolver shackles on back to replace the stock ones. I want to now how durable they are and how much improvement you got from them, even just set of the pants. I can pick them up for $180 a pair and thinking about them vs just ORD HD shackles. Wanting a little more flex on the trail. Thanks.

i was told they unload when you dont want them too and dont offe that much improvement without swiveling fronts

I had a set Front and rear on my YJ they worked OK with a 4cyl when I went to a 8 they were one of the first thing I changed. Had a lot of wheel hop opened when you don't want them too and made a lot of noise, not worth the small flex I gained. I run BTF shackles and my suspension works great. my 2 cents.

Thanks. That is what I wanted to know. 90% of the use of this truck is off road, mainly muddy trails and no maintance roads that O go down to cut wod and hunt. I am going to replace that shackles anyway, sounds like I will just go with the ORD HD shackles.

my buddy came up witha killer 2x shackle that works 10x better and doesnt unload.

if you mount your shackle flips in the 52" spring position and run 56" springs, you take 2 stock shackle and bolt them together at 90*, weld a stop on the shackle flip to control ride height and you will have a flexy, droopy, rear susp that wont unload.

I am just going to go with a set of ORD HD shackles. I dont really need the extra flex for what I do, and I really dont want to add any weak poitns. The truck is supposed to getting stronger. Will just save the money for a Dana 60 front. Only $1400 to go!!!

Toy guys have been doing that for years (I first saw it in 95)...probubly ware he got the idea. They have the same problems with their setups as a revolver. Most no longer run them.

they tend to unload on a fullsize. i thought about running the same setup, but after researching the topic, just didn't feel like comprimising my family's safety for a minimal amount of flex increase. make the flip & shackles work & leave the revolvers for the light weights.

really?, do the shackles have the rubber in them the same way chevys do? the chevy shackels the rubbers a fixed and the center pins have teeth so the create a spring tension and they want to return to 90* not be forced to. i love my setup it work freaking awwsome

Some use stock chevy shackles stacked up & some make a double ended link/shackle with busings at eather end & run a lower shackle made of flat bar. Most are eather running ford 57's or the longer chevy springs.

I called Teraflex about doing this.

They told me it was a horrible idea on a fullsize.
Now if the Manufacture says not to do it, it is probably a good piece of advice.
