should still be 2 quarts, make you a site tube like the Atlas and keep the oil covering the bottom of all bearings...

how about until it starts coming out the hole.

Aint this cute, newbs bashin newbs trying to be all hardcore to fit in and shit. Fawkin tools.

How much fluid for a clocked t-case is a good question, one I havn't found an answer to yet. Fill to the hole works for a stock clocking, it needs enough fluid to fill the low portion of the case and get lube up to a point on the bearings of the main shaft. My thought is as long as lube reaches the same point on the main shaft you should be good to go, which will be substantially less than a stock clocking. When I got my current heep the case was already clocked, and at speed it pukes fluid out of the breather, lots of others have this same problem. Once I get it running I'm going to run much less fluid, just enough to keep the mainshaft bearings partially covered and see what happens. Unscientific method would be to just let it puke till it stops while keeping a close eye on the level. When it stops, as long as there is fluid in there, mark the level and run it.

If I were to fill it till it spills out the hole then that's gotta be way to much........Wouldn't you think??? I mean there would be hardly be any air /breather expansion room.....I am running the JB Conversion kit........and it is vented but the last thing i wanna do is blow a bunch of synthethic Oil out of the breather.

I've also seen this discussed lots of times, and also haven't seen a complete good answer...

Look at this thread, it may help:

This is my D300 with the site tube I installed. If you fill a clocked D300 up to the fill plug your going to puke out gear oil through the vent tube once it heats up. After completing the site tube and reinstalling the tcase I put in 2 quarts of oil and marked the tube. The pic shows about 2 1/2 qts but I now run just slightly below the 2 qt. mark. One reason you don't have to run more oil is that in the stock orientation it slings the oil up to the rear output. With it clocked flat the rear output is bathed in oil.

I used the AdvanceAdapter clocking ring kit.. All of the site tube hardware came from McMaster-Carr.

If you used synthetic oil, it could have leaked out along the splines of the shaft, where the yoke slides on. I've found it's a good idea to degrease the shaft and yoke splines and add some sealer when you're doing some work on the 300.

When you re-clock or flip the D300, you also need to watch where the vent tube ends up - it needs to be at a high point in a benign area (away from any gears). This mostly applies to a D300 in the flipped position when the drain plug is used for the vent tube. Here, the spinning gears collect quite a bit of oil around them and apply enough pressure to the case sides to force the oil out any hole the oil reaches - it acts like a gear pump. If you clock the D300 flat, the vent tube is moved off to one side and might be close enough to the oil to spew some out when the gears turn.

I spoke with Down East Off Road, who sells the D300 flip kit for YJs/TJs, they said 2 quarts, period...
Sure enough anything more than 2.5 quarts it spits out. I did use the JB clocking ring.
