'74 Chevy blazer, I need soom help wiring a column key Ign. switch to a Ford solenoid, with a HEI dist. I have a Pink wire feeding (points Ign) with 6.5 v. A purple wire going to the starter side of the solenoid. I think I'm missing 12v to feed the ford solenoid.But when I put 12v to the starter. When I put 12v to the solenoid the starter wants to engage the flywheel and continue to run starter.

Why are you running a ford solenoid?
You might have better luck in the ford forum, considering they run them solenoids in just about everyone of those trucks.
