when i bought my d60 the calipers were separated from it in a box. it took me about 2 years to get around to installing it. when i put the calipers on, the hardware to attach the calipers to the bracket were either not included or i had lost them in all the moving around i have done in the past 2 years (highly likely). anyway i went down to the chevy dealer and tried to look up what part(s) it would take to get my brakes on. after about 15 minutes of trying to convince the guy i knew what i was talking about, then 15 minutes more of trying to tell him an application that would get a dana 60 srw to come up on his screen, we found 4 different part numbers. one was for a spring (flat arched piece of metal), one was for a "key" (the piece supporting the spring), and one was for the bolt (allen head) that holds them all together. we couldn't tell by the name of the 4th part what it was. they also didn't have any of this part in stock so that we could look at it and figure it out. anyway, i bought the three parts and installed them. it looks like it will work the way i did it, but the mysterious 4th part still bothers me. anyone have experience with this? are my brake calipers installed correctly? thanks in advance for your replies.

Thats what mine looks like. The 4th part could have been a kit for the 3 or lube?

As I recall there is a small metal clip that holds one of the pads to the caliper or something like that. I had a hell of a time figuring out its correct location and orientation after getting the kit with all the peices from NAPA. Ill try to remember to snag a look at mine and see.

Yep, looks like mine. But for some reason I could swear I had two allen head bolts per caliper.....I may be wrong and my shiat is stored away for the time being (few miles away) and can't look at it at this time. Hmmm?

I know in his pics I see a blind hole so in his case there is only one.....like I said I am answering off memory.....and that may be the problem...LOL

i thought it was kind of strange that it only had one fastener too.

it would be great if you could check that out. otherwise i may go and see my NAPA about a kit for it. hopefully the old grizzled guy will be down there, he usually knows whats up.

Yes that is right and the extra part was the "said spring" just dont worry about that spring it aint needed. And ya you look at that spring and say "what the fuck?" So I just threw mine out:cool2:

There are two slightly different style of brake setups used on the Chevy D60's. Basically, the slide/key is a different shape presumably to match up the caliper to the brackets, and the brake pads are different.

Anyway, I have the different style than what is shown in the pics but it's basically the same........slide/key, spring, and one allen head holt. The reason there is two holes in the slide/key is so that it could be used on either side versus having to make two seperate parts.

Napa sells a kit with those three parts in it.
