P0628 Fuel Pump Relay Circuit Low, or Fuel Lift Pump Control Circuit Low

Any 4.5' or new trucks get this one yet?
Mine just died Friday and threw this code, I'm hoping it's just the line pump. It only has 46K on the ticker, under warrantee for another 54K.
I'm still waiting for dealer service to check it out while I'm driving a fawking car :mad3: .

Friday I drove 20 miles, got off the freeway, pulled into a driveway and it died. Restarting for only a few seconds at a time.
The fuel filter has less than 3K on it and no major bombs, only a Scotty Ram Air III.

Anyone?

Update;
Lift pump, $2K for the part alone and a $100 deductable from me.
It'll be done Thursday.

From the studying I've been doing, The injector pump dies because the lift pump dies. You need a fuel pressure guage between the lift pump and the injector pump, with an Idiot light and buzzer. Most of the time, people don't even know their lift pump is dead until this happens.

I thought the lift pump was the engine driven fuel pump (injector pump) at the block and the line pump was in the tank (the cheap pump).
Now I'm confused.....my TDR membership lapsed and I don't feel like renewing it now.

I think that's how it is, But most of the Dodge guys I talk to usually replace the lift pump with a Holley red pump back by the tank, and run a fuel pressure guage. When I get to work, I'll post up a link or two that may help you.

The big pump on the motor is the "injection pump" The lift pump on your truck is in the tank now. More and more it is showing up that they are failing and causing the truck to shut down. and the pump people are using is a holley blue pump(approved for diesel fuel)

Yea, it's my bad on the terminology. The dealer service told me it's the lift pump and I was under the impression that was the injector pump, since he just told me how much the injector pump costs.
Now reading the link Camarogenius posted I'm thinking a FASS might be a nice investment. I'm unaware of the cost and still need to research but just the ease of swapping out a failed pump on a FASS would be alot simpler than an in-tank.
A frame rail mounted pump like a Holley would be just as simple but the extra benefits to the FASS might be ideal for future plans.

The lift pump is cheap and unreliable. Look into a Walbro pump. I have a FASS but if I had to do it again, I'd get a Walbro. They flow more fuel and are quieter, and cheaper. Much cheaper. My FASS is loud as hell and just the pump by itself was a ton of money. I don't even have the fuel/air separation setup.

EDIT: If you are spending that much at the stealership, then it was probably your injection pump (CP3). You can get modified CP3's from aftermarket companies but the stock one is pretty damn good as long as you have a good lift pump feeding fuel to it. Definitely get a different lift pump. and for what it's worth, your truck may have the pump outside of the tank. Mine did. Some are internal (05's and up, I think) and the 03/04/04.5's are external. Much easier to rip out and throw away.
