Back ground: I am looking at selling my Sammi and Jetski and investing in a pair of dirt bikes for the girlfriend and I. We have both ridden in the past and I feel that it would be something we could do together and both enjoy.

Now to the topic: It has been a few years since either of us have ridden, so I am looking for information what would be the proper displacement and unloaded seat height for each of us. I am 5'11" around 225lbs and the girlfriend is 5'4" and about 140lbs. Thanks in advance.

I asked because I was hopeing for some experienced riders knowledge and hopeing someone could point me to some info before I drove 50 or 60 miles to check out a bike, since I do not have unlimited free time like you.:flipoff2:

Agreed. Or, if you don't want to buy new, look for used Honda XR's--a 200 for her, and a 400/600 for you. Both were made up until '05 or so.

You arent real big so a 250 4 stroke could work for you. Think about a WR250 for you and a TTR 230 for her.

Too many folks buy a 450 that dont need em and wind up getting hurt or losing interest although the WR is tamer.

At your height and size you should be able to handle any current generation dirt bike. Your girlfriend however will have a harder time getting on something that will work well and make it fun for her. Make her life easy and go with a CRF150 or CRF230 that has a magic starter button and is very versatile for someone her size. For you, there are many options from $1200 2 strokes to $8k KTM 525 EXC (street legal and only 260 lbs) I recommend finding a 2003 or newer Yamaha WR250 or 450 as they have electric start and make a good comfy trail bike for the money. I am 225 and love the power of a 525 myself even in the tight single track, its the tamest of my dirt bikes believe it or not. So to each his own. Keep an eye on craigslist.org atlanta area and you'll see 2-4 good candidates each day.

Bike was pumped up 1345 miles ago...that is what the speedo says. I had an old man up here by the name of Bud Black resleeve it with the 440 sleeve and I ran the JE 10.5:1 430cc piston. The valves and timing chain were also replaced. Has large diameter headpipe, custom KTM 525 muffler (makes it super quiet). AC aluminum subframe, nice skidplate, oversize fuel tank(new) Mikuni Pumper carburetor, oversize handle bars, bark busters, new tire, bearings, extras and stuff I am missing $2900
1986 XR200R is street licensed, with 1999 motor. It has a NEW Powroll stroker crank and rod, new megacycle .370 lift camshaft w/needle bearing, ported heavily, new valves, timing cain and guides, large fin cylinder for extra cooling, huge headpipe and XR400 muffler (makes it super quiet) K&N filter, powder coated silver frame, 2000+ plastics for modern look, 1999 seat, bark busters, fairly recently redone forks and shock, nice skid plate tires are tore up...more $1900
