hi everybody,

i just bought a 1990 full size bronco (like theres any other kind of truck to buy, other than full size), its got a 351 and the towing package. this is my first ford, and also my first truck with coil springs....i don't know what kind of lift to buy??? i'm also on a budget since i just cut the check for first summer classes and i have to pay second session coming up in a month... i want at least 4 inches of lift so i can run the 35's i picked up off some jackass real cheap...any suggestions on a good lift would be great because i have no idea what companies make good coil springs?

with 1990 you have a twin Traction Beam Front end and that is pretty much SH!t so it would be my advice to go to the junkyard and find a D60 or D44 Solid axle and then order springs all the other stuff needed for the SAS and then you will have a MUCH better Bronco than you started with along with a flexier bronco.

just my .02

Superlift would be my choice.....
I got a 6" kit 8 years ago, and today i called them and told em I had a front coil that had collapsed a little, like 1"
They said send it to us, we will send ya a new one free......, awesome support there.........

I would say Cepek
Superlift
Rancho (except their coils are too fawkin stiff)
Don't spend alot of money on a lift, try and buy one used. I say this because you will grow weary of all the shiite associated with TTB and do an SAS sooner or later.

Oh yeah, if you buy Pro Comp, you deserve to be beaten with a bat. They SUCK!!! :barf: :barf: :barf:

I would stay away from Superlift. In the 4 1/2 years that I have had my 6" lift I have broken just about everything. Their customer service is great but quality is certainly lacking.

I ran a 4" superlift on a 86 bronco and it worked fine. No complaints here. It fit the 35's fine.

Quality control knows no product line. So far I have broken 2 radius arms, 1 cross member and 1 steering linkage, 1 ill fitting drop bracket, 1 bent radius arm and 2 sagged coil springs. Pretty poor track record if you ask me.

Its still all the same crap.
The TTB axle itself is quite strong (it is a HP Dana44), its these flimsy lift brackets that mainly have given the TTB the bad rap for alignment, ruggedness, etc.
I have more than once witnessed superlift brackets on fullsizes get tweaked badly.
The Skyjacker Class2 kits for the downsize Fords (Ranger/Explorer, etc) are extremely durable, but I dont have much info on the Class2 kits for fullsizes. I would think they would be similar (MUCH better than stupidlift).
The Sky cls.2 kits do get a bit expensive, though ($800 or so for a kit with rear blocks). A straight axle swap could be done (with a 79F-150 D44) for a similar amount of change. I would use a Dana60 for a sas, though. That would also push the sas cost up higher.
