: I think my jeep is turning into a heep.
YJ4LIFE 05-16-2002, 01:42 PM Crappy bbd carb, ax-15 that sever seems happy, ticking lifter, overheating clutch.... now my throwout bearing is howling like a wolf. I'm getting really sick of this. Will this AMC/Chrysler stuff ever stay fixed?!!!!!! Should I just go Chevy v8, 700r4, d300? I have zero drivetrain problems on my '89 Firebird with 305 TBI, 700r4. It has over 169,000 miles. The jeep has half that many miles.
B.A.R.K 05-16-2002, 01:55 PM i doubt that u thrash the firebird as much as your YJ, when you abuse it someting has to eventually give, its part of wheeling
FULLSIZE 05-16-2002, 01:59 PM stock jeep+wheelin=crap. everything has a breaking point, guess you found yours:p

Weezer 05-16-2002, 02:15 PM Look at any nicely built jeep and you will find very little actual jeep parts. Theres more ford, chevy, dodge and buick in my jeep then jeep

When mine is finally finished it will only have the hood grill tub and frame from my 94 YJ...everything else will either be removed, chevy, ford, or custom built...
what I think we are saying is loosing the stock drivetrain could be a good step in the right direction:D
Jakesteramalamajama 05-17-2002, 05:08 AM Yeah, I guess my YJ is pretty much a Chevy now too. :(
You know, I bet your Firebird wouldn't be in such good shape if you wheeled it every weekend though... :flipoff2:

No it will never be fixed. Ship the Jeep to me and I will fix it for you, then I'll wheel the shit out of it. I'll send you pictures so you can see it once in a while.

SVARAS 05-17-2002, 08:45 AM YJ + Firebird = YJ with 305 TBI and 700R4
:D :D
By the way, FOR SALE, Jeep Chilton's manual.
Since my Cj now it's almost everything Chevy, I really don't need the book

That's been my plan. Then I can get a 350 and t56 6-speed for the Firebird.

Amen to that! The frame and tub are the only things left on my TJ. The rest is 40 decades of Ford engineering. I'm not really sure I can call it a "Jeep" any more. Maybe it should be a "Feep" or a "Jord"?:)
IMHO- if it's broken, fix it and make it better, or it will just break again.

Jeepmangled87 05-18-2002, 09:12 PM I wheel the hell out of mine and it is still Jeep kinda, Its got a 4.2, and an ax15 and a 231, I would stay all Jeep if it would all stay together. I want to run 4.0 to sm 465 to atlas. :D
1988YJ 05-18-2002, 09:34 PM The only thing left in my YJ that's jeep is the 4.0l... it runs sweet, behind that is a NV4500, Atlas, RD60, RD44, 1/4 ellipticals and coilover in the front. I've thought about changing out the 4.0l but it just goes and goes and goes. It's easy on the gas too!
Magoo 05-22-2002, 06:50 PM Wait a minute! I thought that a 350 SBC was an option on the '47 CJ2A!?! WTF?
:flipoff2:
I think some of the frame is original on my '47. I got it in pieces a little over a year ago, and she's almost ready!
